Hi PEAR,
*Food Day is almost here! *We have been planning a celebration of this
awesome event (about which more information can be found
here<http://www.foodday.org/about>)
alongside Dining. Samantha Meyer is bringing John Adams, PO '66 to talk
about his orange grove in Rialto -- where we get all our oranges this time
of year -- and she's planning a main line meal featuring our local farmers.
The food last year was amazing, and I have no doubt it will be amazing this
year as well.
For our side of things we agreed to run a photo petition, as we did last
year. Basically this just involves standing at the door of Frank and
inviting people to tell the Food Day organizers why they like "real food"
by having their picture taken with a whiteboard (which they write on).
We'll be standing next to a line of buffet trays near the door, so when
people stop by to sample the delicious featured meal we'll be a part of
that process. Anyhow, if this sounds like fun (it was surprisingly fun last
year!) consider signing up here: http://goo.gl/h7GCO. The event is the day
after Fall Break, Weds. Oct. 24th.
That same evening, Pomona alums and EA majors Skyler Boorman and Merritt
Graves will be playing music at Walker Coffeehouse in honor of Food Day.
There will be a battery of delicious Real Food baked goods! We'll be
starting at 9, as usual, in Walker Lounge.
Thanks!
