Welcome to Once Upon the Present Time, an ongoing play-by post story roleplay! Click this link to hear Xanadu Who's welcome message. http://filexoom.com/files/7997/characters/OuptWelcome.mp3 Characters from fairy-tales and other fiction, all living in the present time, in their own respective worlds as well as going from one to another. But did they live "happily ever after"? Let's use our heads and write their continuing stories. Your own original characters more than welcome! Listen to Pippi's explanation here: http://Oonceuponthepresenttime.pbwiki.com/f/OUPT1.mp3 Some fiction books, movies, TV shows have ended badly, for example, with everyone dying or having all been nothing but somebody's dream. Let's nix those ideas and make as if such endings didn't happen. For example, let's roll time in Narnia back to just before "The Last Battle" and the ending of the world part of that story, and give it a new leece on life so that anyone who wants to, can play any of the main characters or anyone else from there if they like, while in our present time. Unlike the 10th Kingdom, this doesn't deal with the made up descendents of fairy-tale characters, and does not have Snow-White as being dead, Cinderella as very old, or the Virginia/Wolf thing. There is no line of family called the Peeps, Bo-Peep would be currently living, an probably not so "Little" any more. Some characters who were originally written or played as children may be written as adult in order to give them weightier roles, especially if some story already covered a fair representation of some of their formative years. Though some realms may seem medieval or futuristic in nature, more or less technologically advanced than others including our own, the overall calendar is in the here and now. Characters may experience dreams and flashbacks that take them to their past, or time-travel to somewhere in the distant or not so distant past, but if they try going to the future, that would only be guestimation since it hasn't happened yet and may turn out to be very different from whatever vision that was experienced. There are a host of characters from all kinds of fiction as well as those you make up to write about and/or from their point of view. Have them comment on current events in our world, write them into our world setting for that matter,. People from here are always going off to different make-believe worlds in fanfic universes and fantasy novels, why not bring a few other-world characters here as well? have them write posts to each other along with participating in narative stories about them. Anything's possible with magic and portals to and from various fiction realms, and our own with our present technology. Examples: how might the king from the Rumple Stiltskin story take to modern technology getting introduced into his kingdom? Embrace it or outlaw it, fearing it gives others more power? What could happen if an elf from one fictional world ended up in another fictional world and met up with its version of elves? How about an inhabitant from Narnia stepping through a gate in their country and into our modern world? The possibilities are endless! Characters can be sharable within reason and posters sharing a character might want to work this out to avoid making a character doing two different things in different places at the same time. As you get a feel for the way different characters act, sharing them even a little to help the story along can really go a long way. if a poster leaves, any fictional character they played that they didn't create will be up for grabs to be written by whoever wants to. The same goes for their own original characters but only to a point where that character can be written out of the plot once they're absolutely no longer needed. The exception to this is if a member leaves and expressly gives up their own character, granting permission for someone else to play them indefinitely. Otherwise, we should try to fade out the created character of a former member as quickly and neatly as possible. Have fun.
