This Monday (the 12th), from 1-5pm, Tar Sands Blockade will be
throwing a community outreach BBQ at Hartman Park (9311 E. Ave. P
Houston, TX 77012) in the Manchester neighbourhood of Houston.
Manchester is a neighbourhood surrounded by refineries & industrial
pollution, and thanks in part to the local Valero refinery, one of the
most polluted areas in Texas
(http://www.chron.com/news/article/Chronicle-cross-county-study-reveal...).
Valero will be refining 75% of the Keystone tar sands, so Manchester's
troubles will only worsen.
There will be music, potluck, and a kid friendly atmosphere. If you're
able to attend or would like to help, please reply to this message or

Thank you everyone who managed to support the outreach bbq today. Extra
thanks to Madeleine for getting the word out & thus assuring a good supply
of food.

Yes, Thanks! That was a really great way for me to learn what is happening
right at my back door and my kids LOVED the hang out opportunity. Severo
said, "Mom! There's a BUNCH o' ninos!" We are excited to do it again! I
can bring some food or something. Blankets for the people who don't have
enough clothes. . .

You are very welcome, Alice. Jim and I enjoyed cooking the hot dogs and hamburgers while meeting your neighbors! I am glad that we are all working together!
