  <title>Two Newton Men Arrested for Theft/Criminal Mischief of Parking Pass Machine</title>

  On Monday November 23, 2009 at about 9:21 AM, a Parking Pass machine was found by Police to have been stolen from the Adams Street Parking Plaza. The large yellow Ventek Model 400 Pay Station fee collection machine was permanently affixed in the lot for users of the parking plaza to pay and receive parking slips for display on their dashboards while parking in the lot. Unknown suspects had unbolted the machine and cut the wiring before taking off with the nearly 200 pound machine. The machine, owned by the Town of Newton Parking Authority, was valued at approximately $11,000.00.

  <title>Disorderly Conduct/Warrant Arrest Leads to Assaults on Police Officers</title>

  In response to several calls to the Newton Police and emergency 9-1-1 at about 6:11 AM on Thursday October 29, 2009, Police Officers responded to the area of Spring Street to investigate reports of a disturbance involving an argument between a man and a woman in that area. &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;Upon arrival, Officers located Matthew Delgado (an unemployed 18 year old resident of 168 Spring Street Apt. #1, Newton), and Gina Thornton (an unemployed 22 year old resident of the Newton area). The two were engaged in a loud argument that had subsided with the presence of the Officers, however when five warrants for the arrest of Thornton were discovered, the two became uncooperative and disruptive. Upon informing Thornton that she was under arrest, Delgado began to physically interfere with the Officers and attempted to prevent them from taking her into custody. Due to this, it became necessary to arrest Delgado for obstructing the Officers.

  On July 14, 2009 at 2:09 AM, Jhessyca Owens, age 20 of 33 Mill Street Newton, reported that she was the victim of a home invasion type of robbery whereas an unknown person knocked on her apartment door and then pushed their way into the apartment, assaulted her boyfriend and demanded money from her. Owens’ boyfriend was identified as Tyler Mills, age 20, also a resident of 33 Mill Street Newton, NJ. Newton Police Officers and Detectives responded and conducted an investigation which led to the identification of the suspects and charges being filed against David VanSkiver, a Newton resident and Damon Alston, of Milford Pennsylvania.
