  <title type="text">Drug Distribution Arrest</title>

  On Thursday May 9, 2013 at 1:57pm, upon identifying the driver of a vehicle as being the subject of an arrest warrant, Newton Police Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Woodside Avenue/Rt. 206. The vehicle was being driven by Jamel O. Sapp, an unemployed 41 year old male resident of Manhattan New York City, NY, who was wanted for drug distribution. Sapp was taken into custody without incident. Upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin and crack cocaine.

  On Monday May 6, 2013, Newton Police Detectives assisted the Sussex County Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force with the arrest of two individuals for drug distribution in the Town of Newton. The arrests were the culmination of two separate undercover investigations into the distribution of heroin, which occurred at various locations in the Town of Newton during the months of March and April.   <title type="text">Arrest Made In Aggravated Assault Investigation</title>

  On Monday April 29, 2013 at 2:26 AM, the Newton Police Department received a complaint of a fight on Spring Street. Patrol Officers responded and discovered that the fight had occurred prior to their arrival. It was learned that about two hours earlier the victim was assaulted, taken to the Newton Medical Center and then later flown to University Hospital in Newark due to suffering a severe eye injury.   <title type="text">Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Arrest for Drug Possession and Obstruction  </title>

  On April 21, 2013 at 5:15am, Sergeant Michael Monaco conducted a motor vehicle stop of a vehicle for an equipment violation.  The vehicle was stopped on Sparta Avenue.  While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, Sergeant Monaco detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from inside of the vehicle.  Subsequent investigation, revealed that the passenger of the vehicle threw a foil package out of the passenger side window.  The foil package was collected and it was discovered that it contained marijuana.
