Training
Great Rivers Super Training Day is going to be held on November 17, 2012
at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater. Many trainings being offered
from Den Leaders Specific to Charter Organization Representative
training, there is also a training session for Den Chiefs. If you are
not yet considered trained for your position please plan to attend this
event. More information and registration can be found at
www.greatrivers.nsbsa.org. Next month, the training team will be
hosting a Youth Protection Training course prior to roundtable.
Family Friends of Scouting
On Tuesday November 13th from 6:30-8:00PM the Great Rivers district will
be holding an information session for units to hear about the new
"incentive" criteria, obtain your goals, and packet information. Please
have someone from your unit attend this event. We will be collecting
presentation dates and presenter information at this meeting. If you
cannot attend this information session please submit your date online in
the unit toolbox or email myself or our new FFOS chair John Capecchi
with your date, time and location of your presentation no later than
December 1st. On Dec 5th and 6th is Million Dollar Day for scouting, if
you would like to attend please contact Tim Anders and he will reserve
your spot at one of the Great Rivers tables.
Membership Update
I am happy to report that Great Rivers District is showing growth
through the month of October and is still working to reach its goal of
2700+ youth. If you are currently still holding onto applications
please get them to Tim Anders or the office as soon as possible. I
would still encourage everyone including troops and crews to plan
recruitment events and flyer the schools for your upcoming November and
December meetings. Remember the two incentives being offered right now.
Troops and Crews can earn a free event down at Base Camp for the entire
troop if you reach your recruitment goal by November 15th, goals were
passed out at the October roundtable. Also attached is the free
xTravaganza event down at Base Camp. Any registered scout can bring a
friend to Base Camp on Dec. 1 and if their friend signs up for scouts
they will both receive an incentive item. If you have any questions or
need help with flyers or hosting an event please contact Tim Anders
today.
Camping
There is still lots of openings for Winter camping whether it is Polar
Cubs, Snowbase or North Winds. Reservation and available weekend
information can be found at www.northernstarbsa.org. Sign up for your
winter experience today.
Advancement Committee
Silver Beaver nominations are due to either Scout office no later than
December 7th. Also, check out the district website for additional
information on the District Award of Merit and Unit Scouter Award
applications. Also, be looking for information on the Great Rivers
Merit Badge Day on January 19th.
OA
The OA Winter Banquet will be held on January 12, 2013 at the Maple
Grove Community Center. Check the OA page at www.oa.nsbsa.org for
registration and additional information coming soon.
Activities
Mark your calendars now for the upcoming Great Rivers Klondike Derby
which will be held at Fred C Andersen Scout Camp on Saturday February
2nd. Registration and additional information will be coming out soon.
Flag Retirement Ceremony
Next Wednesday our pack is having a flag retirement ceremony in honor of
Veterans Day. I believe it is an important event that should be shared
by all scouts.
It will be at Our Saviours Lutheran 674 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul, MN
55106 at 6:30pm Wednesday November 14th.
We are meeting in the parking lot behind the church. Entrance to lot is
on Beech St.

December Roundtable
Join us for roundtable and fellowship on Dec 6th at the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2140 Hadley Ave, Oakdale. Here is the

7:00-8:00PM Roundtable Announcements and Midway
8:00-9:00PM Cub Scout and Boy Scout Breakouts
Unit Commissioners
The Great Rivers district is in need of about 20-25 individuals that
would like to volunteer as Unit Commissioners. If you would have any
interest or know of someone that might please contact Mike Fratto at
