Good point about "natual disaster" v. genocide. Why does everybody want to help, and even consider forcible help, with a natual disaster, but with human caused death, we tend to ignore it? I think there's a measure of "it could happen to us" with natural disasters, but with genocide, it's more of something "those people" do. It couldn't happen here.... more »

So Buddhists can be as irrational as Christians. The logical error that immediately sprang to mind is why would karma kill a 100,000 innocent bystanders if it was pissed at the military rulers. Obama is called the first black to be nominated (it's all over but the shouting) by a major American political party. But wait! One of Obama's parents was white, the other black. Doesn't that make him (in the old South African terminology), mixed race? Does it bother anyone but me that we seem to still cling to the old southern legal definition; one drop of black blood makes you black?... more »
