Tony Award-Winning Comedy at Le Petit Theatre

April 24-May 10
On the Muriel's Cabaret Stage

Douglas Carter Beane's hilariously funny comedy follows the adventures of scheming Hollywood super-agent Diane, a Lady Macbeth in Manolo's, who will stop at nothing to land the role of a lifetime for her hot movie star client Mitchell...including nailing him back into the closet he's determined to come out of, if necessary, and disposing of everyone who's ever had a key.  The New Orleans premiere of the Tony-award winning smash comedy takes a hilarious, no-holds-barred look at the outrageous world of celebrity, gossip, and our obsession with it, that will keep you guessing till the curtain falls on its shocking climax!
"RAZOR-SHARP... heartbreakingly real and hilariously true."..., Variety
"NAUGHTY 21st CENTURY COMEDY...knows no bounds!"... Los Angeles Times
"FEARSOMELY FUNNY; pitch-perfect...full of stiletto-sharp one-liners." .... Orange County Register

Want to develop your skills to become a leader of the LGBT movement?

The Forum for Equality is interesting in partnering with the Hitt Foundation to develop the future generation of LGBT leaders. The R. Scott Hitt Internship in Leadership Development is a 9-month program tailored to a graduate student or a recent college graduate (those graduating in May 2009 are eligible to apply).

The internship provides hands on experience in LGBT advocacy, leadership, policy, grass roots outreach, event planning, board development, written and oral communication skills, and working with non-profit organizations. Interns would follow a curriculum that provides structure and evaluation of the experience.

Successful application entails a three step process:
1) Selection of an applicant by the Forum. The selected applicant will develop a sponsoring
agreement with the Forum,
2) The Forum and the selected applicant will apply to the Hitt Foundation by May 8th.
3) If selected by the Hitt Foundation on a competitive base, the Forum will serve as the sponsor for the intern in accordance to the sponsoring agreement. The Hitt Foundation will announce its final decision by May 29th. Experience will start during the summer.

Apply by sending the following:

Mary Landrieu throws her support behind Jim Letten
by The Times-Picayune
Monday April 27, 2009, 2:00 PM
Ellis Lucia / The Times-PicayuneJim Letten, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, is questioned by the media outside the federal courthouse. Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu said today she will ask President Obama to retain Letten, a Republican.
U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu said today she will recommend that Jim Letten retain his post as U.S. Attorney for Louisiana's Eastern District.
She also named Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Michael Bagneris as her choice to fill a federal judgeship.
Landrieu, the state's ranking Democrat, joins Republican Sen. David Vitter in supporting Letten for the post. With both Louisiana senators in agreement, Letten is virtually guaranteed to retain his spot as the Justice Department's top man in the New Orleans area. President Barack Obama, however, has the final say.
While Landrieu came under considerable pressure to retain Letten, today's announcement is sure to disappoint some Democrats and African-American leaders who have been urging her to choose a qualified Democrat who would also be committed to prosecuting public corruption. New Orleans attorney Brian Jackson, a longtime federal prosecutor, was among those rumored to be a top candidate.
Letten, who is been widely praised for his aggressive prosecution of corrupt government officials, has held the job of chief federal prosecutor since he was appointed in April 2001 to head the office on an interim basis. At the time, former President George W. Bush was searching for a replacement for Democrat Eddie Jordan, and Letten was viewed as a competent fill-in.
After four years, Letten finally received a presidential appointment to the post.
In addition to high-profile prosecutions that included New Orleans City Hall and the Jefferson Parish courthouse, Letten has won kudos for his efforts in building relationships between federal, state and local crime-fighting agencies, particularly when it comes to tackling violent crime in New Orleans.
