Over the last few years, I've come to notice that more and more people
tend to use their BlackBerry and the Moleskine - and I'm one of many
who's on the verge of marrying my Moleskine. Soon I'm going to get my
first Blackberry, but what I really am wondering about is: What makes
people use them together? I think its utterly brilliant, but I want to
know what you use it for etc.

But how do you use the both of them? Do you have your schedules in
your Moleskine, Blackberry or both?
How do you mix them?

i use my blackberry for scheduling.. my calendar lives there..

i sync it up with ical, and i also use the google sync thingie to
sync to gcal..

so my calendar is always good..

i also use my blackberry for facebook(http://www.facebook.com/
home.php#/profile.php?id=825085594) and twitter (http://twitter.com/
sergio_101) along with all the other google apps..

i keep my tasks (and whole life) on tracks (http://
www.rousette.org.uk/projects/), and keep reminders with sandy (http://
iwantsandy.com/)..

i keep all my throw away todos, i use one of those little foldy
planner things (i can't find a link right now.. anyone know what
those things are called?) stuffed in my moleskine...

and for writing on everything, i use a lamy safari (http://
www.lamyusa.com/safari.html)..

which leaves.. my moleskine!

i use this to write down all the stupid ideas i have and flesh them
out.. so that my brain doesn't have to remember all these things..

i have yet to find some kinda note taking and planning device that i
like as much as paper and pen..

so whenever i am waiting in line, or doing something where i don't
have to think, i am doodling and completing ideas in my moleskine..

Another devotee of Sandy and BlackBerry here. I let Sandy keep track
of stuff that needs reminders, my moleskine is for data capture, and
project development. I'm a writer, so it also captures story/character
ideas.

I appreciate your response. I don't have a Blackberry -- and am not likely to go there, although I have been tempted at times.

But I have wondered if I did what would happen to my paper and pens in the PIM context.

Now I can see how it all might fit.

My fine point Lamy Safaris are much loved, as are my Moleskines.

I am aware in recent past that quality issues I carped about so much a year or so ago seem to be solved -- so kudos to the company for that. Having communicated directly and very positively with the American distributor, I am sure his influence in this area carried much weight.

I recently bought a hard cover pocket 18-month calendar Moleskin that starts today, and a pocket flexible cover Moleskine.

I chose the hard cover for the calendar because it has an address book insert.

I like Noodler's, especially Legal Lapis from Pendemonium.com -- also the permanent green and brown inks. I get most of my inks and pens here because they have always given me great service, and Sam, one of the partners is fantastic on the phone becuase of her knowledge and enthusiasm.

I also like the Lamy green and tourquoise ink cartridges.

awesome.. i will start looking at it..

just in case anyone is interested..

i have used noodler's inks forever.. written notes on those little
foldup thingies (does anyone know what they are called?) and then
accidentally put them through the washer..

after hot water wash, and dry cycle..

i found my notes..

and believe it or not..

not even one ink run.. perfectly legible..

that is the ultimate waterproof test.. and it works GREAT..

The Noodlers permanent inks really mean they are permanent on paper and will not destruct regardless of what happens to them. Noodlers makes custom inks for various suppliers and companies -- but I think the best selection of their custom inks is at Pendomonium.com.

The people at Pendemonium say that Legal Lapis is their best selling ink, and I can believe it.

To call it a blue black ink is not to do it justice.

One other ink that is permanent, and a permanent part of my ink array, is Noodlers Flannel Grey (I think that is the name), which has to be the finest grey ink I have ever used.

DOH!

it's so popular that it's sold out..

dangit!

At least you know I'm not exagerating -- they must sell thousands of bottles of that ink alone!

Get on the waiting list so you're not disappointed.

Cheers,

Daly

PS  The Navajo Blue is a nice turquoise from Noodlers, though it is not part of their permanent, eternal series of inks.

I first had a BB and then a Moleskine. First of all, my Moleskine can
not send and receive Email, which is of course the main purpose of the
Blackberry. Electronic calenders are also good for long-term planning
and recurring events, same for the to-do list. But I only use
electronic tools in the morning: Copying tasks collected over the day
into my electronic to-do list, then creating my daily agenda and to-do
list in my Moleskine. This ritual helps me to focus on priorities and
not get confused by the long lisk of tasks.
