If you could change an aspect of your preferred Moleskine, what would it
be? I ran into someone who was lamenting that the large sketchbook didn't
have a grid version because he did technical drawings and liked the
sketchbook paper but needed grids.

Personally, I'd love to have a thicker pocket plain; the pagecount of the
daily dairy, but with nothing printed on the pages. The same nice thin blank
pages, just more of them in each journal. Possibly with some "room to grow"
so I can tuck a bit more into the folder, as I always overstuff the folder
horribly.

-- More removable pages at the back. Those perforations don't work
well, as is.
-- An extra oomph of space between cover and pages, to hold those
inserts without breaking the spine.
-- A year's calendar on the inside cover or flyleaf.
(I know , I know, that would date the manufacturing ans supply. My
checkbook register right now has a 1994 calendar on it :)

For the weekly pocket planner.

- go back to the days-in-columns format
- drop some of the info pages, like international clothing sizes and
North American area codes
- add tear off corners

Personally, I would like a feature that would allow the Moleskine to
write down my thoughts, when i think them, for me.

I could not agree more. A double thick pocket moleskine would be
wonderful. I would also like two marker ribbons. An additional
accordian pocket in the front would be nice too.

Two marker ribbons -- that's brilliant! I tend to use an index card(s)
to mark certain pages. I suppose one could cannibalize a ribbon from a
filled-up notebook and add it to a new one. (If I try this, I'll report
my results).
I bought my first reporter's notebook about two months ago -- I really
dislike the lack of a marker ribbon, so a card has to do. One thing I
do like is the fact that with unlined pages, I can write in it like an
oblong book with the spine / gutter oriented vertically -- long lines
(or wider margins) and short pages.
Bought a pocket-sized day diary last year -- really like the extra
pages, and the fact that for one particular project, it will last
exactly one year.

BTW, I say "my notebook" or, if I need to be specific, "mole-skeen" to
avoid confusion with the bandage-like product; and if I had kept a
piece of that wonderful material in the pocket of my notebook, I
would've avoided some uncomfortable blisters last week.

I second the motion for a plain or lined Moleskine as thick as the
daily diary, though I would want it in the large size. Ditto some room
for expansion as stuff gets added to the pocket.

A pocket in the front as well as the back is a good idea, as is the
possibility of more pages--I'm hungry for more pages!
More importantly, though, I'd like a pen loop. I've tried clipping a
pen to the elastic closure, but that's a less-than-satisfactory
solution. Anybody found a good way of carrying a writing instrument
with their Moleskine? I use the pocket-size.

I'd like a large Moleskine gridded with page numbers pre-stamped so
that I could use it as a logbook at work. Many companies require the
pre-stamped pages for patent/IP/legal reasons.

If you're not exceptionally picky about your pen, I would try a
bookmark pen. They are flat pens that fit inside a book/notebook
easily. I've seen them at Barnes and Noble before. I'm sure you can
find them online as well.

Aside from that, Ninth Wave Designs has a small carrying pouch for a
pocket sized moleskine that has room for pens.

I don't know any way you could attach a pen loop.

This is a better case in my opinion.
It is dicussed and a photo in this group under "moleskine case".

I would like the pocket-sized Moleskine to have the inside cover padded
a bit with slots for ID and a couple of credit cards. It could replace
my wallet!

I'm a purist. I like my Moleskine just the way it is.

Moleskines are pretty perfect as they are. The only change I could wish
for is some reinforcement on the bottom of the pocket. I apply a strip
of reinforced packing tape along that edge -- half the width on the
outside of the back cover, the other half wrapped around and attached
to the pocket. This keeps the bottom from tearing out when the pocket
is full.

Other than that, I can't think of anything I'd change. It's a basic
notebook, not a solution for every organizational or life problem the
owner has.

Here is my favorite page-marking solution for my notebooks. You can
have tons of them in use without increasing thickness, breaking the
spine, or damaging pages. And they don't fall out in your pocket.

I think what happened is Google Groups' URL extraction code choked on
the | in that URL.

http://www.bookdarts.com/ are a much more affordable option. and
having used both, they are, imho, far superior.

great, I didn't know those existed. The Page Points definitely are
absurdly expensive. Thanks!

levenger is a fantastic resource for finding products you like, then
purchasing reasonably similar facsimilies somewhere else for much less.
