Hi Everyone,
We are Magic 5.64 PP6 – live with eMAR – and are going live with BMV in late January. Could you share your process with co-signature for Insulin administration as well as how you barcode insulin?
Also, looking for suggestions on training end-users. We are planning on providing 2 hour end-user training classes in January. Our thoughts are to provide each user with a baggie of medications for training/barcoding purposes.
Thank you in advance!

Hello Lisa;
In regards to training: we put barcodes on candy and had simulated Medication passes. 4 hour sessions for Super Users and 2 hours for
end users.
I’ll see if we can share our training plan for new hires.
We also used training videos to introduce the screens before folks saw them for the 1st time.

We also used follow up reminder videos on proper use, like this:

The videos were done using camtasia….

We showed a video that was very powerful… pharmacists, physicians and nurses whose lives and patients were affected by the LACK of BMV.. after viewing this there was not a dry eye in the house and virtually no “complaints” about what processes were being implemented.

Lisa, 2 hours of training is plenty to teach BMV since you already have the eMAR.
We use insulin pens, so we don’t have to deal with multi-dose insulin vials. We use the cosigner feature in the eMAR. The nurse calls the other nurse to the bedside and the second nurse witnesses the blood sugar that displays and the nurse dialing the amount to give in the pen.

Hi Everyone,
That is another good approach. I am personally affiliated with the UnSummit (outside of my day job), tons of resources here:
