We have a BBK rule that changes the expiration to between 2300 and 2359 (dependent on the time of collection) of the third day after collection. If it is collected Tues at 1525, it will expire at 2325 on Friday night.

Here is the rule:
23-([f bsp ctime]$2)+(24*3)^HRS,
[f bsp exp hrs set](HRS);

We are currently working on getting scanning and archiving up and going,
have a question about archiving for CLI and SDC patients. Will it still
archive if a patient is not departed? We currently do not depart CLI or
SDC patients. We were told that these would have to be departed to
archive, and I find that difficult to understand. Any insights would be
helpful.

Hello L'ers,

I would like to create a fragment from an ABS.PAT report that pulls the

The fragment call should send the ABS.PAT.account.number.

Morning all. I have a report that is pulling in RXM information in the detail of my report. I also have free text information on TR lines so that the clinician can add information that may not be in the system. The problem is, if the patient does not have any Med Rec information the report does not print. The report is for our Rehab services, who currently do not document in Med Rec (not because I do not think they should be, that is a different story. ). So the question of the day is: How do I get my report to print even if there is no information to pull into the detail section? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Send @adm.urn from ABS to the NUR.PC.WORK.fragment not ABS.PAT.account.number.

There is no account number index in NUR.PC.WORK, but intervention and assessment data is stored by @ABS.PAT.adm.urn = @NUR.PC.WORK.patient

The way I have always understood archiving to work is that first the
patient has to leave admissions.. (hence the need to DEPART.. unless
the patient purges from registration a different way).. then the
document reaches the age needed to be considered for archival.. in my
case, 12 months without any activity.

Vera,
There is documentation on the Meditech website under "Best Practices" that outlines Meditech's recommendations for meeting the "Record Demographics" and "Advance Directives" functional measures. There is documentation there for CS, Magic and 6.0. Here is the link to the 6.0 Best Practices page........hope it helps,

Good morning, Lynette.

I received the following "Task" from Meditech a little while ago. It was
a little weird. The first set of Q & A was repeated three times in a
row. I couldn't tell whether it was a clerical error, or whether
someone really wanted to get the point across that Valco customers were
about to get shafted.

Last Edit:

Memmolo,Angela (MEDITECH) - Mar 9, 2012 - 1134 EST:

We have received questions from our Optical Disk customers with regard
to ARRA
certification. To disseminate this information across our customer base
we are
opening a FAQ task.

Q: I have the Optical Disk (OD)/Data Archiving (DA) solution. What is
the
current status of this product?

A. MEDITECH still supports OD/DA application in the 5x platform but this
functionality is no longer being enhanced. This means that newer
MEDITECH
applications will not integrate for archiving/viewing of this data.
The
newer MEDITECH applications are being linked to work with the newer
Scanning
and Archiving Application.

Q: Can the new scanned form EMR ID's be utilized for OD/DA?

A. No, newer EMR ID's related to scanned data are only available for the
MEDITECH Scanning and Archiving Application.

Q: What is MEDITECH's plan for Optical Disk/Data Archiving as they
relate to
ARRA?

A. Based on the ARRA Stage 1 and Stage 2 rules, OD/DA were not products
that are
needed for certification. Looking into the future we don't know what
will
come out for Stage 3 and 4 but felt it was important to note that the
OD/DA
applications will not be part of MEDITECH's ARRA certification. If
you are
using these products we recommend you discuss certification with your
other
vendor (ie Hyland/Omtool). If they are not certifying the version
you are
running, then you would need to self certify.

Q: My OD/DA hardware and archive vendor software is aging, and I am
looking to
upgrade to a newer version. What options do I have?

A. Since it's inception in 1994, the OD product was originally designed
for
storage on Optical Disk hardware, and the OD routines are run at the
Ops
level. However both Optical Disk and Data Archiving can utilize any
storage
media, as long as it is accessible on the network. As the archived
and
scanned data reside on this hardware, preserving the integrity of
that data
should be kept in mind when any changes are made.

The OD/DA applications were written to interface to our two archive
vendors
at that time - Data General and Digital Equipment Corporation. The
product
itself has remained the same, but the archive vendors have changed
hands;
currently they are Omtool and Hyland. We are aware that the vendors
may have
further developed their own independent applications to work with
OD/DA,
although we do not support or advocate use of these products, as they
are
outside of the original interface.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your
Optical
Disk specialist. Thank you.

Hi Eileen,

Not sure what you have but with C/S 5.65, there's the ability to require
the students to get a cosignature before they file either their care
plan or nursing notes. As for the specific interventions, we don't have
an actual process. It is pretty much up to each individual nurse. Most
if not all of the time, the students are with their instructor who
overlooks all their activities.

Hello Everyone,

I had a few people ask about populating query fields through interfaces, so I documented the steps you need to go through in order to do this. If you are just beginning or in the process your Meditech 6.0 implementation, you will find this information useful. The document is fairly large in size, so I am going to give you a link where you can find it.

Go to: http://www.d288itsolutions.com/resources.aspx then click on the link on the left hand side of the page for Meditech?s HL7 Populating Query Fields.

If you have any difficulties, please let me know and I can try to email it to you. I hope you find it useful.

Sincerely,

Kevin Frederick

Subject: [MT-L] New web site for the meditech-l
Message-ID:
<CAN57TWu4NOAt+s1TTMrPR+Gx...@mail.gmail.com>
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all,

I have gone LIVE with a new web site to support the meditech-l. The old
domain names work to get you there (MTUsers.net or MTUsers.com), but the
look and functionality is different. I retired the old joomla web site
that was so buggy.

The new web site actually interfaces with a database of meditech-l messages
and articles that anyone can post to the web site. Currently the
history/archives go back to 7/11. But, if someone has older meditech-l
messages sitting in a gmail account, I would like to talk to you about
loading them into my database.

You can read meditech-l messages on line (RSS is available), broken down by
today, yesterday, last 7 days, search by tag, search by subject, search by
sender.

There is a page dedicated to Job announcements regardless of their source:
in an article posted on the web site or from a meditech-l email message.

There is a Market Place section where vendors can write articles about
their services, products, wins, etc. We limit advertising in the email
messages om the meditech-l, but on the web site you can post articles on
anything (market as much as you like), as long as it is not critical of
someone else.

There is an Info/Help section where you can get advise such as how to post
an article on the web site, how to subscribe to the email list, how to
unsubscribe to the email list, etc.

There is a Directories section for people, vendors, facilities, and
meditech-l volunteers (remember to give "atta boys/girls" to these folk,
they work hard as vounteers to help keep the flow of info going for you).
If you, your company, or your facility is not listed and want to be listed,
email G...@MTUsers.net. These Directory entries can be linked to articles
such as your Bio, your facility Bio, your company Bio.

And, of course, there is a Help the L section were you gracious folk can
make donations to pay the fees that keep the email list and web site
active. Vendors can become "Supporting Vendor for the meditech-l and run a
banner ad on various pages on the web site.... If you see a banner ad
from a vendor, remember to make them a priority when you need vendor. They
are supporting your needs with the meditech-l.

Hello,

We are just beginning to set up the NUR notes function for Nursing and other ancillary depts.
I'm looking for info on some creative ways that other sites have utilized notes to pull in lab and rad results, medications, 24 hr I&O total etc. We use the Iatric Visual flowsheet which calculates the I&O totals now, so don't have that already existing as a query on a cds.

Also is anybody sending notifications to PWM -the physician desktop? If so is there any way to limit this so that the prompt doesn't appear for every note entered, maybe just for those related to a critical result for example.

Thank you for your help,

I noticed a text running into a 2d label that a co-worker showed me. I compared to the labels I had and noticed that the 2d label on her wristband was larger than the one on mine. At first I thought it was a difference between printers (I have the Datamax I Class and she used a Datamax M Class). After some testing this did not appear to be the problem. Now I suspect it's a difference between facilities - account numbers as such:
0000000123 - 10 digit account number
M0000000123 - 10 digit account number (with prefix M)
It appears that the prefix causes the barcode to be slightly, but noticeably, larger!
Has anyone seen this before - that the size would shift based on composite data?

MIS.OA.MSG.auto program has these comments:

;A is the mnemonic of the MIS.OA.MSG.DICT message

;if B exists, ignore A. B is packed data
(^text.file,receiver,receiver...)

;it is assumed that the record identifiers are in / as necessary

;

; If C exists, look for suppress header flag on receivers

; If D exists, suppress e-mail to patient regardless of dict setting

; If E exists it will be the ICS subject line

;

Try defining for E as in:

FCL1=
%MIS.OA.MSG.auto("",Q(^/BODY,"VOCERA","CMCWHORTER"),"","","SUBJECT")}

I haven't tried this myself so let me know if it works or not.

Hello Robert;

Absolutely, all barcodes will automatically scale based on the amount and type of data encoded in them. Just like words on a page, the more I say, the more space it takes to encode the data.

In a small white space application (like armbands) you need to adjust the barcode size to handle the largest amount of data you will be using.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Gary Baker. I work at University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler, Texas.

We are a Meditech C.S. version 5.65 System and I have been asked to modify our exisiting NPR Admissions Armband program that currently prints a "1d" - DAT=BAR.CODE format on the Armband. By adding a second "2d" Barcode *(preferably multiple "2d" Barcodes)*.

Can anyone help me. Do you have an NPR Armband program that prints "2d" Barcodes that you would share?

We have 3 "DATAMAX" Armband printers.

Our site is 6.05 pp13 and to my knowledge there is not a rule to suppress recall functionality (If anyone does know of such a rule, please share :)).

To get around this, what we have done is to break the doc section apart into several small doc sections (and just disable the recall function on the doc section that contains those queries). Then at the intervention level put all of the doc sections back together to get one assessment.

Hope this helps!

We are currently Magic 5.64, migrating to CS 6.0. We currently use the PICIS Dietary system for patient menus, meal rotations etc, which interfaces with Meditech. We have found out that the PICIS dietary system cannot be used with 6.0.
We are wondering what dietary systems other 6.0 sites are using with Meditech and if they interface.

To unsubscribe from the meditech-l, follow the instructions at the URL http://mtusers.com/mailman/options/meditech-l_mtusers.com/

Please do NOT send messages that ask "Please post to the list" or "I'd like to see your answers" or "Send that info to me, too" These are useless messages that just waste the email server's resources. Instead, email the original requester and ask that they send you or post the results of their question.

Go to http://MTUsers.net for other information on the list, as well as:
1) reading meditech-l messages online
2) job opportunities
3) vendor products and service

Do NOT send email to meditech...@MTUsers.com. This is a system email box that is NOT monitored by a human. If you need help or advice on how to use the meditech-l, email lo...@MTUsers.com or ju...@MTUsers.net. Both of these people help manage the meditech-l, so they are your best resource.
