Subject: [MT-L] Ordering Rhogam

Hello,s

We're experiencing problems with rhogam orders from OB and curious how others are handling this (we're C/S5.65 pp11).

A pre-delivery woman is admitted, OB orders a TS (type & screen) which
lab collects and tests.  If the mother is Rh- once she delivers the OB nurse
orders the product Rhogam which includes the test Fetalscreen and must
be tested on mothers post delivery blood.

The problem we're experiencing is when rhogam is ordered, the system's attaching
the Fetalscreen and rhogam product to the original TS order but we want it to
create a new order so the lab is notified to collect a new postpartum specimen
for testing.
Any help would be appreciated!
TIA,
Corey

Make a new BBK department and assign that department to the Rhogam and
Fetalscreen.  That will kick them to a new requisition.  We had to do
that with our DATs because they were a new specimen.

We are Magic, but use the settings for "OE Add to Previously Ordered" on page 4 of the product dictionary.  RHIG will only add to a Blood type order (ED often orders a blood type to determine if the patient needs RhIG or not), but will not add to a Type & Screen order.
