It appears that NORTH CAROLINA has interpreted the law differently than all other states. Now several hospitals have brought legal action against CMS. If you are in North Carolina then request a copy of the NCHA for Aug 26 from your Billing department.
We have been working to resolve the issues with NDC reporting on claims. It has been a very interesting adventure. First of all we found out the date had to match for crediting and debiting drugs. This was a pain. Then I corrected some more yesterday and to day we looked at this very closely. What we found out today is that the Medselect reports zero doses and orders entered reports a dose amount. This causes the Medselect orders to come over with one multiplier and the orders entered come over with another. Have others found this issue and been able to resolve.
Cindy at Morehead initiated conversations with Meditech MM to write a program that would address NDC's for fluids. Meditech is working on that. They consider it to be a custom since it was not a Federal mandate. The supervisor at Meditech said NC had interpreted the mandate so much differently than all the other states. Jeffrey Gingras is looking for other hospital thoughts on this. If several hospitals will contact them, then they will make it a DTS instead of a custom. Jeff is very interested in your feedback. Either contact your MM consultant or jgin...@Meditech.com.
