Some numbers like Aeroquip and Stratoflex can be torn apart and
decyphered, others like Piper require a chart. I have a computer print
out that has probably 10,000 hose cross references and even using that
in my hose shop there are many that aren't included. Several thousand
are in the cross-reference tool so you might try that. You're example

Is there a way that you can put in more information for converting
Stratoflex to Aeroquip hoses?

Example.

Aeroquip part numbers

AE3663161H is same as stratoflex 124J4001-8CR-

Would really be helpful knowing how to convert these number.

Hi John, Buzz here. I ran MsConfig, removed a few other things that
wanted to be on the start menu... thanks for the heads up that I'd
forgotten.
Mechanic's Toolbox is running as it should now.

Oh yes, I'd un-installed it... re-installed it for a 2nd time. And I
made sure none of the 3 boxes were checked. I think the paragraph

You can run msconfig to change your startup programs. Click on the
start icon on the lower left icon. Where it says 'start search
(windows vista), type msconfig

Hi John, Buzz here. I un-installed it once, and when I re-installed
it made sure all 3 boxes were un-checked. So I was surprised when
Mechanics Toolbox appeared after I re-booted.

I had a hard time finding my start menu... but I'll look more slowly
when I have more time. I don't have my laptop with me today at

You can remove items from your start menu - Go to your control panel
under programs, "Change startup programs"

One of the dialog boxes (the one after you choose which directory you
want it installed to) during the install phase has 3 checkboxes -
uncheck the one that says "Add shortcut to start menu"

This is checked by default - I'll correct it so that it is unchecked
by default.

Hi John, Buzz here. Yesterday I downloaded Mechanic's Toolbox
version 5.0 (plus a few more digits). I had a 5+ minute boot up -
get connected online cycle. That wasn't convenient. My laptop isn't
a new fast machine, and M.T. starts slowly. Adding it to the boot
cycle isn't good for me. I try ti run it "lean" on the options.

Actually, the information is there but can be made clearer. All are
examples of AN bolts with head markings X or -.

The button issue - yes that is confusing. I'll have to redesign the
page.

Hey there,

I really like your program. After going through it I found some
things that you might want to know about.

When you go to the AN Hardware, Bolts and Nuts section. Click on,
Bolt Identification, then choose, Head Marking.

The very top row of bolts have no ID number and one can't click on

There is no import function - just export. They would have to be hand
entered.

Nothing on safety wiring. There are lots of diagrams of how to do it
but I wanted to do it with pictures. Years ago an A & P school I was
visiting had a board with examples. Wish I knew where I saw it as I'd
take pictures of it.
