I will be holding a review session for the final on Wednesday, May 11, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (possibly shorter, possibly longer), in 60 Evans. All are welcome!
The questions are approximately in increasing order of difficulty.
For those of you who're interested in learning Jordan forms (i.e.
Sections 7.1 & 7.2), question 25 would be interesting. Otherwise,
just leave it.
[ P.S. In hindsight, the questions seem harder than what I usually
prepare. I hope they're not too difficult. ]
(3) You can also look at the other exercise problems on my homepage:
(4) [ To my students ] Please remember to pick up your homework from
the box outside my office. The latest homework should be finished by
next Tuesday (10 May), 5pm.
I have a question about orthognonal / unitary equivalence on page 384. In the paragraph before the definition it says D=(Q^-1)AQ and that implies D is equivalent to A. But then the definition says A is equivalent to B if A=P*BP, as opposed to A=(P^-1)BP. Are P* and P^-1 interchangeable here? Anything you can offer would be great. Thank you very much. Have a great day.
