  BREAKING NEWS &lt;br&gt; On Friday, July 31, Borrego Springs was designated by the International &lt;br&gt; Dark-Sky Association (IDA) as only the second official International Dark &lt;br&gt; Sky Community-and the first in California.   Well folks, our great cosmic adventure to China is almost over. We covered quite a bit of this amazing country in the past two weeks, and saw a remarkable total solar eclipse under absolutely clear skies! Our tours taught us much about the art, history and geography of China, the food was spectacular, and we even had a few &amp;quot;interesting&amp;quot; lessons on the language. Needless to say I won&#39;t be speaking muchChinese in the near future!

  Weather was quesstionable from Wuhan, so we stopped instead at Yichang--also along the Yangtze River. We were met with spectacular skies and a remarkable sky show. The attached URL shows one photo from the Zheng Jiang Ge Pavillion in Yichang. While many stayed onboard the ship and others hiked a short distance to a nearby park, I took a speedy hike (with 30+ pound backpack) at least three miles.with temps well above 90 (with equally high relative humidity) to find this scene. It was quite nice to return to the ship&#39;s AC after the celestial extravaganza!
