What can I say about Alaska. the only word to describe it is "Majestic!"
This is my ninth time in the interior, and each time it becomes more and
more remarkable. Tomorrow our group will be taking the Alaska Railroad to
Fairbanks-a beautiful all-day journey through the snow-covered wonderland of
Denali National Park.
While aurora forecasts aren't particularly optimistic, the meteorologists
are being quite kind. So whatever Mother Nature stages for us in the
heavens should be visible. Temperatures haven't been too bad either; 21F
when I arrived (that's nearly 70 degrees F cooler than what I left at home).
Fairbanks will be about 25 degrees F colder than that, but anyone who's ever
stood beneath those magical northern lights will attest that it's all
worthwhile!
More astronomy news once I return home and defrost.
