I get in trouble, when I use SSHFS to edit my remote files via
textwrangler and when acessing any file on my server.
Using cyberduck I have no trouble because it operates asynchronously
and caches the file locally and I can continue my work.
I think this is probably a problem of the underlying system itself but
it's the cause that I use Cyberduck for remote editing again. So Mac's
finder probably wasn't created for remote access and the waiting
cursor is made for the rare cases, when my local file system is slow.
So I know what my system is doing. For remote FS's this way of
feedback is annoying.

Any solutions for this?

Please see annotations at at http://groups.diigo.com/macfusion/bookmark/tag/sshfs

Mac OS X and Finder are well designed, and do work well with remote
file systems, but we should not expect SSHFS to be a replacement for a
distributed remote file system.

Annotations at http://groups.diigo.com/macfusion/bookmark/tag/stack
hint at future developments.

Nice, to add the option "-o no_readahead,noappledouble,nolocalcaches"
makes it work how expected.

Thank you for the useful tool.

Best,

Andi

Clarification:

If you specify those options you have no freezed UI but cannot upload
several files at once. There will pop up 3 messages and a blank file
will be created on the remote FS.

Bear in mind that the design of your SFTP server was:

* primarily, for the limited capabilites of SFTP clients

* probably, without regard to FUSE/SSHFS and the
(properly) special requirements of Apple Finder.

If you believe that your issue is not explained within FAQ for
MacFUSE, then please add details the Trac for Macfusion:
http://macfusionapp.org/trac
