*Bump. Cleaning up the site.
This should be enough. For those who do not use the site, it has been
flooded with spam lately. I bumped posts for the last month. Hopefully
that will be the end of it!
> Hello guys.
> Im not finished, but I think I should stop now. ;-) (No "Well" Im only half kidding, the quote came from "Leave it to Beaver".When Wally was cutting Beaver's hair, When Beaver asked are you done yet. and Wally's response was No! but I think That I better stop now..) I tried to keep everything simple to show off the wood's beauty. but now I think perhaps I should have roped the part from the handle to the square bead.
> Could-a-should-a-would-a."O"Well.
> The thoughts behind what I did and why are perhaps more important the the finished produce. (So says an starving artist!) ;-)
> The Lacewood is from a pallet that I found at work, after removing all but one nail, (which my planer found, O lucky me.) I planed five boards to 1/8" and then glued these boards into a piece of turning stock. (appx. 2"x 1 1/2"x 42") After the glue set I cut the boards straight and jointer the edges to get everything square. Next I did some soul searching and started cutting the blank on the Legacy.
> I thought that the square bead would be neat, and would be a nice touch for the square part of the handle.
> I didn't have enough lacewood to make a handle, so I used a piece of black palm, thinking of the contrast of colors.but also having a similar grain pattern, that the two woods should go nicely together, And I think that they did.?.
> If you have never worked with black palm, the legacy dose a nice job cutting this wood, This wood is very easily splintered. It isn't easy to turn on a lathe. But the Legacy did ok.
> All the sanding was done on the Lathe down to the 220 grit and then a wax/oil finish was applied.
> Any and all comments are welcome, Please let me know what you think?
> talk to you all latter.
