POSITION TITLE: TECHNOLOGY TRAINER & SUPPORT SPECIALIST
DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

SCHEDULE: M-F, 9:00 a.m.-.6:00 p.m.

*While generally this is a 40 hour per week position, Practice Services staff are expected to work the hours necessary to complete assigned responsibilities and scheduled tasks, accomplish assigned project tasks in accordance with the parameters established in the governing project plan, and/or assist in restoring impaired or down systems to fully operational status.
Additional Information:
Currently using Outlook 2003, Word & Excel 1997. We are on the verge of a rollout to Office 2010 - expecting to commence in LA around late August. Experience with a 2010 rollout (or 2007) is a huge plus, although not required. When the rollout reaches LA, we will be bringing in supplemental contract trainers to assist with that. Primary applications used here are Word, Excel, PDF Converter, AMS Collaborator and some Interaction, although the popularity of that seems to be diminishing. We are also using NOVAtime for Attendance, although we will not expect experience with that. Phones and Voice Mail are Avaya.
Summary:
Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, this position performs a variety of training, application and technical duties for Seyfarth Shaw employees. This position interacts with colleagues in a team setting and facilitates the image of the Firm by maintaining positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff and observing confidentiality of client matters. This position will also provide a level of escalation and support within the Computer Support department, to research and provide resolution to complex IT issues and administer end user support to Los Angeles attorneys and staff of Seyfarth Shaw LLP (support may also be extended to other Firm locations). This position will also act as a point of contact to Firm personnel in the Manager’s absence.
Job Functions
• Develop and deliver technical training classes to legal personnel; attorneys, paralegals, managers, secretaries, IT personnel and support staff.
• Conduct new hire training via stand-up or web-based delivery for each of the core Firm applications.
• Assist with the development and refinement of other educational or communication programs.
• Assist with the creation of in-house training documentation, and customizing vendor documentation to meet Firm and departmental standards.
• Maintain various training information such as calendars, databases and attendance records.
• Determine and develop software solutions to address specific needs of practices areas and individuals.
• Evaluate and improve existing computer and workflow systems and processes to maximize efficiency.
• Participate in the overall development and growth of the Training Department.
• Create testing and evaluation documents that measure effectiveness of courseware.
• Be subject-matter expert on the firm core software applications.
• Act as a member of the web development team.
• Test and assist in the development of new processes, concepts and training strategies.
• Evaluate and configure software applications and customizations provided by third party developers.
• Beta test software products designed internally or externally and subsequent recommendations.
• Collaborate with external software development and training consultants.
• Assist in establishing “best practices” for users working with applications and documents.
• Provide desk side support to end users as needed, providing a second level of support for User Support department Call Center Analysts and act as a liaison to networking, hardware and other Firm entities and vendors when resolving user issues.
• Update all escalated tickets into the current tracking software program; ensure the current status of the issue is accurately reflected in the ticket in accordance with department policies.
• Assist in the management of monitors/keyboards and other peripheral devices. Provide reports to management as requested.
• Perform printer installations and end-user printer setup and tracking as required.
• Assist in importing documents into the document management system and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Perform conference room setups to include connectivity to and troubleshooting of the Firm’s network, computer setup and installation of audio visual equipment. Schedule all Video Conferences for the Century City Office in the Firm’s Video Conference Scheduler.
• Set up and manage access rights for AMS Collaborator, the Firm’s Extranet.
• Manage content for Firm’s portal, including updates to Firm Floor Plan in Adobe Illustrator.
Essential Job Functions under Certain Circumstances:
• Provide hands-on or remote assistance outside of regular department hours in the event of an emergency IT situation or in support of Firm-wide IT projects or initiatives.
• Travel to other Firm offices to provide additional support or attend training.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
High school graduate. Two plus years experience training in a legal environment. Experience in producing training documentation, references and application outlines. MOS or equivalent certification is a plus.
Skills Needed:
Typing speed/accuracy: 65 wpm with 95% accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Access. Capable of troubleshooting computer problems and teaching software skills to others. Legal citation, terminology and documentation expertise. Excellent communication skills including writing, editing, design and presentation. Ability to ask targeted questions to determine relevant facts and required skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Position involves computer and telephone work; clear diction and hearing; ability to move throughout the office and manage supply relocation of 25 lbs. or less. Position also involves standing for extended periods of time during presentations.

• Demonstration of ability to work overtime occasionally to perform essential duties of the position;
• Demonstration of initiative in support of attorneys and all other support staff.
