The Highlands' own Phyllis Warman is featured in the
first annual Kirkland Gallery of Gardens Tour
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Sunday, July 26
(She's the founder of this new event!)
The event benefits the Kirkland Arts Center. The self-guided tour
features four private Kirkland gardens. It begins at the Kirkland Arts
Center where ticket holders will pick up maps and are invited to walk
or drive to the gardens, all of which are within 1.5 miles of the
Center’s downtown Kirkland location at 620 Market Street. This year's
featured gardens:
* A Northwest contemporary waterfront retreat featuring sun-drenched
Mediterranean plantings beds, Asian-inspired shade gardens and a
hillside vegetable and fruit orchard perched above.
* An elegant European garden graced by stone terraces and formal
fountains with a bounty of organically-grown edibles at every turn.
* An inviting certified wildlife sanctuary and botanical garden
featuring over 300 species of native and Northwest climate-friendly
plants and six unique water features scattered alongside a running
creek.
* A sustainable family garden complete with herb and vegetable
gardens, livestock, barn and pasture that spread beyond the shadow of
one of Kirkland’s magnificent historic homes.
