Summary:
Working from within our development team, the Release Engineer will be focused on the integration, verification, and release stages of all our projects. With a hand in development, product management, quality assurance, and operations, they will help ensure we deploy quality code and projects in a fast-moving environment. The Release Engineer will be hired as part of the Development and Technology team, and to contribute to enterprise wide application solutions. Selected candidate must have strong web development and operations skills, and be highly collaborative in exciting and agile project environments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a robust build automation system for rolling out features to each environment needed during our integration, verification, and release stages of our projects.
- Ensure a dependable change and release management process is managed and followed between our Development and Operations team.
- Strategize and maintain the role continuous integration tests play during each part of the development life cycle.
- Continue to institute proper application monitoring and visualization tools on each testing and production environment as needed by our projects.
- Work with development teams, product management, and other QA testers to ensure timely project delivery.
Minimum Education Required:
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required:
- 3 to 5 years, with experience working on large-scale web media-based solutions and emphasis on scaling production environments.
- The ability to work on multiple concurrent projects is essential. Strong self motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be a team-oriented individual, energetic, result & delivery oriented, with a keen interest on quality and the ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Experience and proficient with the Django framework, utilizing both Python and PostgreSQL databases.
- Knowledgeable of python packages and pip servers, virtualenv and buildout, fabric, continuous integration testing, multi-layer caching methods, git versioning and branching strategies, puppet, south, bash scripts, and other tools to help maintaining multiple builds.
- Experience with managing configuration and settings of vhosts and project stacks across testing and production environments.
- Experience with accelerated delivery as its applied to the development life cycle in an agile environment.
