IHE Radiology Technical Committee will oversee an evaluation of DVD hardware compatibility at the January Connectathon.
This is an invitation to all vendors at the connectathon to assist the committee with this evaluation. Participation is optional.
Background
Today, many health IT vendors use or recommend combinations of DVD burners and media brands to ensure reliable quality of DVD media written. IHE Radiology, knowing about the fast development of the DVD market, wants to know if such recommendations are still necessary and, if yes, which combinations have proven to work well. The results of the evaluation will help the Committee decide if this technology is reliable enough for creating an Integration Profile that allows exchanging of larger data sets using DVD media (similar to IHE RAD PDI profile).
Evaluation Details
Vendors may choose to participate in the evaluation as one or more of:
-- "Replicator" participant
-- "Authoring" participant
-- "Reader" participantA description of the evaluation method is here: http://wiki.ihe.net/index.php?title=PDI_DVD_Preliminary-Evaluation. As a participant, you do not "pass" or "fail". You are just helping with a data gathering process.
