Subject: How to create an IE crash dump for investigation
Hi Ray and cinamon,

Microsoft recently released a critical update for IE 6 users that
resolved the crashes I was seeing on my own notebook earlier. Do you
have the latest security updates for IE7? To check, visit the
Microsoft Update homepage at:

http://update.microsoft.com/

If that doesn't resolve the issue, it'd be helpful if you could create
a crash dump the next time IE7 crashes. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Close IE.
2. Open a command prompt by clicking "Start," and then "Run"
3. Type "cmd" (no quotes) and press Enter.
4. Navigate to the folder that IE's installed in. For example, if
you've installed Internet Explorer on your C:\ drive, type the
following and press Enter: cd "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer
\" (with quotes). Once you've navigated to the Internet Explorer
folder, type the following command:

ntsd -g iexplore.exe

5. This will launch IE in a special diagnostic mode and will open a
debugger window.
6. If Internet Explorer crashes, click "Yes" or "OK" to the crash
window.
7. In the debugger window, type the following (please note the initial
dot before "dump"):

.dump c:\dump.dmp

Let me know if the crashes continue, and I'll send you a quick email
asking for the crash dump. If you'd rather not test the beta version,
just a quick head's up that you can always go back to the previous
version of the Toolbar by going to:

http://toolbar.google.com/

Thanks for keeping me posted,

Kiku
