There is great dissatisfaction with increase in Petrol prices these days. To avoid such problems, I suggest that some RTI activists may enquire from IOC and other pvt sector petrol companies about the total amount of profits earned by them last year, how much of this was from petrol alone, what was the average crude oil price paid by them last year, copy of the claculations done by them to arrive at the selling price of petrol etc. How is it that same petrol prices are fixed by all petrol companies. Do they have a coterie to arrive at such decisions. In other countries, wherever petrol is deregulated, differant petrol companies fix differant selling prices for petrol. Besides, why should all petrol companies not upload their annual accounts for public view. Further, why should govt not have a regulating authority (on the pattern they have for telecommunications to scrutinize their costs and prices and due to which telecommunication costs are now so low) for petroleum products and another one for food for scrutinising their costs and prices.

Why such hue and cry on this hike? Let us be little honest, who are all consuming the petrol at first place? Does the PTS runs on petrol any where in India? Does the heavy transports run on petrol? Why subsidy? Let us not enjoy on others cost. I request, let us listen our inner voice. Let us differentiate what is JUST and what is UNJUST. Even private diesel vehicles should pay for diesel at market price. Why AM INDIAN should pay for my comfort. I have a diesel sedan. I will be lying by saying that increased diesel price will not pinch me. I will rather opt for cost cutting, than to expect fellow Indian specially those who can not afford personal cars, to pay for my fuel bill.

Hello mksinghal,

You have raised sound issues on transparency in oil prices in public interest. Kerala High Court & competition commissioners are admitting petition on the issue.

Audited accounts of all Oil Manufacturing Companies (OMV) are uploaded and available on on respective website. I have downloaded audited accounts of all OMCs for last three financial years.

For your kind perusal, a sample IOC 2010-2011 audited accounts is enclosed herewith as a link:

This may be a starting point for further public scrutiny.

One more point to add, de-regulation has now happened bur tax
rationalisation has not happened.

The denocractic govt. of India, and Indian states should not be
allowed to tax such an essential commodity to a larger extent.

Dr. Singh is right to advocate de-regulation of gasoline. Steps are
also needed to rationalise the Tax structure on petrol.

Thanks

In addition to management functioning n pricing there is also question of taxes by the govt which is about 150% ,which is highest on any commodity in the country n not been reduced after deregulating the prices. The main question is the amount so collected go  in corruption since govt itself accept that only 10% of the budget is acctually used on ground. Our public suffers basically due to inefficiency of the govt n its public undertaking coys.

Dear Mr. Mazumder,
I love the logic of almost all Indians and how we are selective at the targets we choose to snipe at.

Lets see, youre not silently paying for the 52 car cavalade for Mrs. Pratibha Patil and all the fuel she consumes are we ? of course not.
We're not paying for the hundreds of millions wasted in burnt fuel idling every year at traffic jams due to bad road planning  and potholes, are we ? of course not
We're not paying for millions in administrative charges of a monopolistic monolithical set of refinery companies and the babugiri they entail ? Of course not
We're not paying for all the bad debts the companies write off every year soundlessly to the people the Govt favours ? of course not

Before sniping let us understand the targets. The targets should be even and the correct places. Crack down on the corruption in the road construction business  and Govt and need for subsidies will reduce. Crackdown on traffic control and the need for subsidies will reduce.

Instead here we are dividing the nation on the basis of petrol and diesel users as if caste and creed was not enough...... India is shining

Sir,
It is a profit making company, regularly declaring handsome dividends. Its EPS ratio is 30.67, that signifies a healthy unit like all Govt undertakings. Five times raising petrol prices in a year is like 'robbing Peter to pay Paul'.

Sir,  all the Pauls of oil establishments are paid much more(pay+allowances+free facilities) than other govt. servants of similar positions.

Dear Capt Beniwal & all HJ members,

As per Companies Act,Cost Audit is compulsory for certain type  of industries Therefore Cost Audit Report is appended in to the annual accounts.tBut,we must request more detailed costing records of every product.

Secondly, ethonol blending is not practised as per policy.

Thirdly,How Reliance has made quartely profit of Rs.5000/crores and ALL govt companies has incurred losses. We  must investigate.

Pl give me details of case no,type of case, name of litigant etc,so that i will track the developments.

Thanks.
