Internews is a media development NGO which has recently started
working in Sri Lanka. We are producing a radio program called Kiran,
which highlights reconstruction efforts in tsunami-affected areas.
With Kiran, we want to tell listeners what is being done in the
reconstruction process, and give them information they need about how
this will affect them.
This is a chance for different NGOs and Agencies to communicate with a
wider audience, about the work that they're doing.
If NGOs and Agencies have suggestions for stories and issues that need
to be covered, please get in touch with us. Our contact details are
below.
Kiran also produces Public Service Announcements that deal with
health, sanitation, and other issues. This is another way that NGOs
and Agencies who are also producing public education material, can get
their message out. If an organization has any messages or material
suitable for PSAs, please get in touch.
We have a production studio in Colombo and two teams of journalists in
the field, one in the East and one in the South. In Colombo people can
contact Matthew Abud on 077 9010 961, or at
matthew.a...@internews.org. In the East the contact is Parisa
Saadatmand, 077 9010 960 or parisa.saadatm...@internews.org. The
Southern team is headed by Neeraj Bali, on 0724 135 016, or
neeraj.b...@internews.org.
Kiran is broadcast on the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation's
national Sinhala and Tamil service, at 18:30 Monday to Friday.
