Subject: Map & News
Hello Friends

I have posted a map prepared by Christine Chen at the Carolina
Mountain Land Conservancy.
We are seeking feedback on the map so let us know if you see changes
that are needed.

There are several other new resources posted on the site.

We are still working on the idea of walks and a bike ride.
We have been discouraged from organizing a large public meeting at
this time.

No news from Norfolk Southern but we should be ready for action when
we do get news.
In the meantime, we should each make sure that our elected officials
(and candidates) are aware that we support this potential opportunity
to improve our community.

We are looking for a way to organize an on-line petition drive, so
send any ideas on that subject.
It might be good to have a website in addition to the group site so
that potential supporters can explore without signing up.

Thanks for your interest.

Mike Oliphant

Mike,

The City of Brevard detail map needs revision. Only about a half mile
of track remain in Brevard., That remaining section of track is just
south of Ecusta Road. The rest of the track in Bevard has been removed
and much of the rail corridor was deeded over to the adjacent land
owners. The existing three and a half mile  Brevard Bike Path utilizes
about one half mile of the old rail bed, being  mainly the section
between McClean Road and Fisher Road. The existing bike path would
feed into the proposed Hendersonville to Brevard rail-trail and should
be set forth on any detailed map of Brevard. I will try to find a way
to map it. Or I can work with a more map  literate computer guru to do
the update.
