I've just finished the first version of a site for a client
(www.cantorfashion.com) targeting the luxury fashion market.

The items are very clearly displayed but don't have any fancy zoom
tools (like yoox.com) 360 spins or catwalk clips (like
www.gorgeouscouture.com) or flash navigation (like www.brittique.com).

As the site develops we'd like to add more images, probably by showing
more views on the product page or possibly by using a javascript
rollover/click/hover to swap larger images.

Do you think fashion sites need anything more sophisiticated than this?

So far we've avoided flash as it's harder to integrate with our
ecommerce software, and can cause problems with navigation and also
with search engines.

The Client does however want to create a luxury shopping service that
people return to again and again.

Do sliding flash menus and pages (www.gucci.com) add to the experience
or do they get in the way of the goods?

All help, opinions and URL's appreciated...

Cheers,

Lucy

Hi Lucy,

we greatly appreciate your posting at the HAPLIFNET :)
Welcome aboard!

While I'm no IT expert I'm unable to help you pertinent to your
software or technical questions. At Haplif, we do operate and maintain
only statistical sites.

All your sites presented, particularly www.gucci.com, are smashingly
appealing to me. But, I'd guess, they might be rather expensive to
create.

I'm going to present your questions at our multicultural blog
INTERNATIONAL STUFF (USA, Europe, Japan, Australia) shortly. Perhaps
some of my friends might have any further helpful ideas.

Cheers, Frank

As announced yesterday, here's a copy of Marika's reply from
