*Greetings, Guerrillas!

Saddle up, the time has come to announce the target for our Kentucky Derby
Edition of Guerrilla Gay Bar, which goes down this Friday, May 9, at 9:30
PM.  This month's target is:

*SEVEN GRAND*

From the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles description:  "Glamour is as
glamour does, and the former Brock's Jewelry Emporium downtown, once known
as the "Tiffany & Co. of the West," has been refurbished and reborn as Seven
Grand. The original jewelry cabinets are now used to display the bar's
impressive collection of whiskey - - more than 200 different kinds. The
inviting decor is an imaginative and strangely elegant mix of plaid and
antlers, but it's the real, old-fashioned cocktails that are the draw. Look
for the neon stag."

*TIPTOE THROUGH THE JULEPS*
The connection to the Kentucky Derby, this month's Guerrilla Gay Bar Theme,
is the derby's official cocktail, the mint julep.  Seven Grand serves three,
count 'em, three, variations on the official drink of the derby, served as
they're meant to be, in pewter cups.

*WIN*
We'd love it if you dressed up derby style this month; think southern
finery, or even southern gothic.  However you dress, make it nice - Seven
Grand has a dress code and won't let you in if you're wearing shorts, flip
flops, hoodies, ballcaps, visible jockstraps, etc.  HQ will buy a drink for
anyone who comes dressed as Tom Wolfe.

As always, it pays to arrive early - we like to pick popular, cool bars.  If
you come late, expect to wait in line.

*PLACE*
There's a parking lot convenient to Seven Grand, on 8th street, between
Olive and Grand.  Parking there is $7.  Or, you can take your chances with
street parking.
