Did you know that the average number of posts in threads made by new users in July was 5 (their posting + 4 replies)? Which domain got more links, example.com or domain.com?
Did you spot the 85 posts made by Googlers last month? How about the threads that never got an answer?
Excellent work, again, John. I hope you have some automated system for pulling that together!
I always wonder about a statistic, I call them Drive-by-posters. Those who come in and make a post, only to be never heard of again, even though their questions may be answered.

Did you know that almost half of the new users abandon the groups after their first post? Do they read our replies, do the replies help, or do they just not come back?
One question though, I left a comment and noticed the nofollow thingy and read your sites policy, which I of course have no argument with but, I have the Firefox SEO plugin which normally highlights all links that are nofollow'd but the nofollow'd link on your site doesn't show it. Is it because it is "external" as well as "nofollow"?
Love the data and number crunching though!!!
I'd love to let an AL bot loose on this group to extract semantic content but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon! :-()
One thing though, can you do a chart on the number of first time posters who shouldn't have come back? :-()

That's because I'm sneaky :-). I noticed that the nofollow highlighters tend to clash with my own nofollow markup - also, I've seen sites where some nofollow highlighers use markup that makes the text of the link unreadable. To prevent that, I use javascript to remove the nofollow from the page on the user's side (and at the same time, insert my nofollow markup). You can see that if you have the Web Developer plugin for Firefox, if you use "view source" it will show the nofollow, if you use "view generated source" you will see the marked up link, without the nofollow.
