I'm Rebecca and am the newest addition to this Webmaster Forum. I
also help monitor the Webmaster Forum in Spanish
http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help-es , so if you're
a native Spanish speaker you should check it out, and even if you're
not but you like helping other webmasters and want to give your
Spanish skills some practice, you're more than welcome too.
I guess you can take it for granted that I spend way too much time in
front of computers, but I do have outside interests too. I love to
read, I play a pretty mean game of soccer on the Xbox, and enjoy
walking around with no destination in mind. I'm looking forward to
taking part in such a big and active forum, and hope to see you
around.
Hi everyone,
I am a beleaguered webmaster who regularly trawls through posts to
learn and help whenever I can.
I bow to the superior coding skills of many on this forum as I
regularly need help keeping up to date with seo changes.
My main site www.silverstall.com always needs help as indexing and web
design rapidly change from week to week. Most of what I have learnt is
from this forum as few resources compare to the experiences of those
in the same boat.
Aside from jewellery my main interests are photography, internet
copyright law and participating in the intake of copious amounts of
unhealthy calories. The only reason I never opened a chocolate site is
it would be constantly 'out of stock' and I would be obese to the
point where my belly would obstruct visual access to a monitor.
Hi I'm Chris.
I am the head of the Tech Dept at a K-8 school district and interested
in seeing how we can integrate Google Apps into our org.
My main site is www.stanunion.k12.ca.us. We use this site mainly to
communicate to parents and students in our school district, but also
to highlight how students are using technology. It is relatively new
site for us and we are still fleshing it out.
I live and work in Modesto, CA and when I am not putting out fires at
my job I enjoy attempting yoga, running, creating audio sound-scapes
and snippits to complement my wife's new media installations (she is
an art prof at CSU), I also collaborate with the Oakland based, non-
profit intermedia art group Double-Vision, which is always fun.
My goal is to learn how we can utilize Google Apps at our school
district to work as a Microsoft Sharepoint-like app for district
office staff and admins to collaborate on projects and share docs on
our organization. We also are interested in other functions that
might benefit us. With all the Governator's recent funding cuts in
California ($2 billion...thanks Arnold!) we are looking at ways to
push new technologies, but stay within a tight budget.
I'm excited to begin collaborating with this group. Thanks.
My name is Anita. My main site is Small Business Trends -
http://www.smallbiztrends.com . The site is about timely small-
business issues and resources (reviews of products, sites, books) that
business owners will find useful.
The site started in 2003 as a Blogger blog. Now it is a micro-
publication -- love being an Internet entrepreneur and nano-
publisher!!
I've been working many hours to build my business to the point that
recently I was able to hire an assistant editor and some other small
business contractors. With that help, we are in the process of
expanding -- increasing the frequency of content, and writing more in-
depth pieces. We've also started doing things for the community that
previously the lack of time and staff prevented, such as book
giveaways and maintaining an events calendar..
Out of necessity I have had to learn about the search engines. Mostly
I try to read up about search in the evenings. Sometimes I feel very
alone when it comes to search engines. So I am really looking
forwarding to learning from everyone and connecting.
I'm from Ohio. When not in front of the computer I can be found
reading, listening to my iTouch, in my Japanese garden (in nicer
weather) or watching CNBC financial news.
Thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself! Looking forward to
chatting,

Monkeybriefs.com was started in 2005. I had this funny videos site
built custom with my design and it was built around the concept of
Holylemon.com, Compfused.com, etc.
My main goal has been two fold with this site:
1. Keep the site clean and office safe. Don't fold to the same high
paying affiliates that offer content that is offensive.
2. Keep the pop-unders and pop-ups off the site. They are annoying and
people are tired of them.
I work full time for a top Global chemical company. That's what pays
the bills right now, but hopefully one day I can make enough online to
do what I enjoy most full time.
I have successfully turned a $68 eCommerce (eBay purchase) self
defense site into an $80k return in a short time. I am currently
working on my next eCommerce project and several other small irons in
the fire.
Monkeybriefs, however is the one I am most anxious to get feedback on.
It is not my money-maker, but it is the first time I have had a site
that Google did not like. And I am not sure why. So we can revisit
this later. Nice to meet everyone.
www.direito2.com.br is my main personal project and it's a news
library for all law and courts around the country... today I have feel
sources, but I'm adding more.
The http://ruben.zevallos.com.br or www.ruben.com.br is my personal
web site, where I merged my other 2 blogs in one, and I'm doing more
than just a blog, such testing my CMS tool and lot's of things.
I'm IT professional since 1981 and I love to program and I felt in
love for Internet in 1993 and I'm working with since that time...
I'm living in Brasília, DF, Brazil, but I lived in lot of places, my
last city was São Luís of Maranhão State, where I met my wife and is
with her that I spent all my time off computer, wathing DVDs, going to
movies, walk on park or just speding our time together.
I am currently working as a Web Producer for a start-up company called
Sharpcast, with its signature product: SugarSync. Sharpcast is about
simplifying people's digital lives with revolutionary real-time data
synchronization service. Hence, the two sites: www.sharpcast.com and
www.sugarsync.com (also its blog: www.sugarsync.com/blog).
I like to take photograph during my free time and spend time outdoor
enjoying the beautiful Bay Area nature.
Thanks for reading my brief introduction. Looking forward to chat with
you all.
My name is Michael Dammann but I go by Mike Dammann
Since 1999 I have been in search marketing
I have many sites, but the ones most important to me right now are
http://www.firetown.com and http://www.searchfeature.com Search Feature is a group blog discussing all aspects of SEO and SEM,
it has interviews, news from forums and other blogs and gives daily
SEO tips.
I currently live in Costa Rica.
I am also a part of the team winning that real estate SEO contest. :)
I run website for my music promotions business i run in my spare time,
it is www.blinkypromos.co.uk
Iam by no means an experienced coder or web developers but i have
ideas, determination and drive, so will get there.
The main bulk of the website was coded by a web developer i know, but
im not over joyed by it, just doesnt seem right lol.
the website is really aimed to become a portal for bands and their
fans to learn more about each other, get information and also to
promote the work we do with bands, so has several different roles, so
is a but of a mess i think lol.
I enjoy developing new parts to the site to add more interesting
content and want to push toward visitor submitted content over time,
but for now its just my toy and hobby.
hopefully get to know some of you, as i sure ill need plenty of help
and advice lol
My name is Spencer, I live in Iowa, and I own an insurance agency
where the majority of our business is health insurance that we market
through our website. Luckily Google has shown us some love for that
and keeps us fat and happy.
In september of '07 I launched an online chat and community site
called OohYa Chat at http://www.oohya.net that has been growing fairly
fast. We currently have over 12,000 members and seem to be growing
around 100 new members per day. This site is built using Joomla and
includes one of the most comprehensive chat applets out there which
offers webcams, voice chat, and image sharing directly in the chat
rooms and private message boxes. Community builder powers the profile
system that allows people to add photos to their profiles in addition
to a personal photo gallery for up to 20 photos, the ability to leave
comments on profiles, and the ability to make connections and send
private messages with other members from the profiles. I've also
incorporated interest groups and video sharing. Needless to say I've
put quite a bit of time and effort into the site.
Now it seems like most of my time is spent moderating the site and
trying to figure out how to get the site a decent ranking in serps. I
appreciate all of the help I've gotten here so far and hope to keep
learning more.

A very brief introduction about my website...
I take all the joy and pride to introduce our website on behalf of the
1your.com team. You can visit our site at www.1your.com/fus....
The concept of this site is a 'knowledge sharing website' where users
can share their expertise with others. Users can use the forums and
submit articles about topics that they found useful and feel that its
worth sharing with others. Currently topics range from the wonderful
php-fusion CMS itself to Java programming, management studies etc. but
it is bound to expand depending on what the users can contribute.
The website is in its very initial stages and what you will see is
just the very beginning...
We do have a handful of domain experts who are committed to publish
loads of useful articles in due course. Please feel free to join our
community and experience the joy of sharing your knowledge.
Please also feel free to comment on our website and know that we
strongly appreciate and acknowledge constructive criticism.
We are new company - reinventing learning in the digital world.
Most of have been around many years on the Internet...I even had an
office next to the inventor of the internet, Al Gore, while he visits
Columbia's U's Earth Insititute..;)
Our company designers all work remotley, and mostley use Google apps
to build..along with conceptshare tools...
Our site/website is in its very initial stages and what you will see
is just the very beginning... we have invented some real cool stuff
too.
Hopefully kids will enjoy while learning...we just signed up # 2 guy
at wikipedia, so we hope to have nice content too...
We really dont use SEO much to tell ya the truth...though we made
10.00 last month in ads sense...our site is still in DEV
We have some other marketing avenues we plan on pursuing, but its
always good to keep up to date on SEO.
I just cant see the justification and ROI with spending 50.00 last
month for 3 clicks to our site. When I set up in "beginner mode, the
day prior, I received about 200 clicks for about 5.00...was strange..
I didnt change anything when I went to advance mode (adwords btw)..Ill
discuss more later..just my 2 cents...A lot has change since 95...;)

I go by Propools when I'm online, but offline it's Brian. My kids,
call me 'dude', so if you would like to do that also, I reckon it's
fine. But if you do, I'll tell you like I tell them, "It's either dad
or Tom, not dude". Why Tom? Watch '50 First Dates' and you'll see a
character in there called "Ten Second Tom". It's a PG-13 movie, so
stop what you're thinking.
The website which was started just over 11+ years ago is www.propools.com.
(NO scraping please)
Im originally from Maryland but have been here in Middle Tennessee
since 1988. So, I guess that does make me a southerner, but there are
those who would argue with that. To some, it's once a yankee, alwayas
a yankee.
I look forward to further and greater participation in the Google
Forums as I do participate quite often in the webmasterworld.com
forum. Our company style is "White Hat" all the way.
One last thing. One of the best lines ever written: "Light Up the
Darkness". If anyone wants to discuss the meaning of this, let's do
it one-to-one, direct email. But be clear to put "Light Up the
Darkness" in the Subject line or I'll probably not get to it for quite
a while, as I get tons of mail.
I am "luzie" - a (very) active and well known member of the german
webmaster help group (well known there).
My real name is Herbert Sulzer (usually called "herbie") and i live in
Bad Muskau, a small town directly on the german border to Poland,
famous for it's fantastic fairy tale castle of Prince Herrmann Pückler
sourrounded by his creation, being one of the world's finest
artificial landscapes, the Muskau Park: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskauer_Park
As a SEO i'm always interested in anything concerning search on the
internet since 1995. I have never been a special friend of Google - i
remember Altavista - and probably will never be, but i'm always
interested to contribute in a constructive manner. I have been here
from time to time to learn from what's going on in this english group
and may be dropping the one or other answer from now on - if I know
what the question is about, that is ... ;-)

I'm Char, another Googler from Search Quality here to help out in the
Webmaster Help Group.
My foray into webmastering began with a personal photo gallery site I
created years ago, which looks like it is perpetually stuck in the
nineties. To redeem myself, I helped my last company bring its website
out of the nineties. Currently, I co-author a personal blog and am
working on setting up a personal website to host my own music fluff
(domain name TBD).
In addition to creating music fluff, I also like listening to all
sorts of music, trying different kinds of food, wandering around in
general, and learning about people.
I look forward to getting to know many of you and being involved in
this already very active and supportive community=). Thank you for
having me.
I'm David and I'm a native Brit living in the Charlotte area of North
Carolina.
I lived in San Francisco for 10 (fun years) and watched the Internet
boom - bust - comeback with interest
I was involved with publishing (on reflection) very sad websites back
in 96 and got hooked on search engine marketing back in 97 due to be
being so inquisitive....
I am now in my tenth year as a small solo op SEO/SEM/ PPC and Online
PR business.

Hi, I am Ekompute, a nickname given by my webhost. I thought that was
cute and have been using it since. I am from Malaysia and used to be a
human resource manager but have since retired. When I am not sitting
in front of the computer, I am sitting behind it, LOL. Just pulling
your legs. I am always in front of the computer, unless I am very
tired and when I sleep.
My main sites are http://dummipedia.org and http://teknologi-maklumat.com,
both using Mediawiki software. Had been an active contributor of
Wikipedia and guess I was deeply influenced. Dummipedia was inspired
by so many complaints among friends that the articles in Wikipedia
tended to be very long so I decided to summarize it to a maximum of
500 words. Also for my own reference as I sometimes faced the same
problems too. Forgot what I was reading at the beginning when I
reached the end, hehehe. Teknologi-maklumat is an information
technology website in Malay, a language which I picked up almost three
years back. Helps me keep abreast of developments in information
technology. I have just added a blog for each of the websites to air
my opinions from time to time.
(P/S: Hope I entered this message in the right place. Doesn't seem to
able to find the link that I usually see in forums.)
