But those were just costumes, right?
When I was taking the kids out walking around we
saw some really scary folk ;-)
My daughter kept a tight grip on my hand
at some of the scarier houses.
There was this one where there was this ghoulish
figure in a open tent, The black kettle of goodies was
near. We really couldn't tell if this was just another life-size
figure or ... if it was alive. It didn't move.
I couldn't even see any breathing movements or any
of the slightest twitch or tremble.
My little princess carefully but quickly grabbed a piece
of candy from the kettle. The figure didn't move.
Then my older son tried, he reached his hand toward
the kettle ..then BOO the figure sprang to life!
We hastily made our exit with our well earned
treasures in hand.
With hearts a racing!

Mine are all grown up now and go to costumed Halloween parties instead
of trick or treating. Reminds me of when we were young... and care-
free ;)
No more little kids in the neighbourhood here. No more neat
decorations either. Some houses will still give out candy to the few
kids going around, but nothing like what it used to be years ago.
At least it was nice last night, rather mild, after a nasty week of
cold, rain and slush and snow.

We've had a bit of a week of hideousness with daughter trying out
different zombie make-ups for a pop video shoot she's worked on;
remember - you heard it first here, the UK No1 for Christmas is zombie-
themed ;-)

Haha! Mine's going to be working on a music video 2 weekends from now.
We are turning the house upside down and inside out looking for props,
materials, anything and everythign that may help.
The theme has changed from halloween-ish to god knows what else since
they weren't ready for shooting this weekend (most participants were
going to parties instead ;) )
Apparently (according to trusted industry insiders) it's not
necessary for the soundtrack to have anything much to do (or even
not at all) with the visuals in any case!

Brilliant! Wish her well from me. Is there something about us as
mothers?
This is a couple of jobs ago - http://www.mcflyofficial.com/music/ -
where there are ugly, warty extras look no further than my daughter's
bag of tricks (proud mum)!
Lot of career choices now - exciting world for the kids.

Hmm, my job's already been lined up. I am to take care of:
1) catering - been told I don;t have to provide food but take care of
storage, serving it and providing/managing disposable utensils
2) inventory of props (keep track of who brought what so they get it
all back with no loss)
3) general gofer
4) band-aid provider (as in Mrs Fix-It)
5) finding/providing/improvising props - brain scrambling stuff
6) manage clean-up efforts (since the main shooting location is
somebody's posh condo and it has to remain posh after we exit LOL)
BTW, this is not a kiddie production. Just a very-very low budget
one ;)
My daughter is actually a musician trying to carve her career, so
making use of all the free/cheap help she can get.
I'm just worried that there's no way on earth this can be pulled off
in a single weekend.

They do work long days - this week's shoot was two 16 hour days,
though they can run to 20 hours for a fixed fee. But I used to work
in TV and you finish when the job is completed - now I'm self-employed
it's what our daughters have been brought up with. From the outside
filming looks like long hours and hard work - on the inside it's all
adrenaline and shared vision.
There's such a big rush in all of this I'm sure you'll love it :-)
Meanwhile, back here, brilliant evening on tv yesterday with 4 hours
of Neil Young; next weekend it's Leonard Cohen in concert - first time
I've been to a gig in a while. Now, what are the odds that two musical
geniuses who comprise the larger part of my record/cd collection
should both be Canadian?

Hehe, pretty big if you ask me ;)
It's perhaps not that well known, but many well known music stars (be
they just singers or full fledged singer/songwriters) are Canadian,
though they became well known and appreciated (even on their home
turf) only once the Americans "discovered" them.
Since you like Leonard Cohen, maybe you'll also like this inpromptu
interpretation of one of his songs, which I was treated to last year
for my birthday:
melinas-music.com/discography-covers.php?s=10&q=2
(just click to close the silly "ad" - it will be removed after the
"event")
