As I've seen more and more folks stick around here, I thought it'd be good for us to get to know each other a bit, so that it's not just mariat174, but rather Maria who is from Spain and runs a very cool siteon water skiing, that sort of thing.
So... with that, I humbly invite you to introduce yourself with a few words, including... - Your name (first name or nickname is fine if you prefer :) - Your main site's URL, or -- if you have more than one site -- max 2-3 that you work on. - A tantalizingly brief description of your main site ("Started in '02, it includes water skiing equipment recommentations, best places to ski, and a buy'n'sell board... both in English and Spanish.") - A quick tidbit about where you're from, what you do and what you're about when you're not sitting in front of a computer.
*** Please PLEASE do not hijack this thread to note concerns about your site or give Google suggestions or anything along those lines. I will ruthlessly send such notes in this thread to the big bad bit bucket where the terminals don't shine. ***
This is just a getting-to-know-you kind of thing. At minimum, this is your chance to invite folks to see your pride and joy site and help others get a sense of the human behind it :-).
Regards, Adam
P.S. -- This is a continuation of the very enjoyable original "Introduce Yourself!" thread. Since we now have a dedicated section and this newer thread, I've closed the old one to new replies, but you're still welcome to read all the old posts there: http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help-Indexing/browse_...

Oh well I may as well get in on this thread also :)
My name is Richard Hearne and I am an occasional antagonist here. When not busy antagonising I try to help out a little when people have Google problems. Most other times I'm a professional consultant working in Dublin, Ireland.
Nice to see Barry above keeping an eye on the topics. I think the group is getting a lot more attention recently, as it becomes a reference base containing some very serious knowledge about Google and SEO.

Sasch Mayer here... I hang around the group when work allows and have even been known to say something sensible from time to time ;)
German by birth, I've spent most of my life in Canada & the UK and have now been living Cyprus for the last year and a half or so.
I've been a writer (web content, articles, features, reviews, etc.) for a bit over a decade now, but started off as a techie during the early 90s in the UK.
What can I say about me personally? World Hero, Genius, Adventurer, I've been called all those... but then again, I've also been called a shameless liar on occasion :Þ

I've been online since before there were photos on the web...I'm an Account Manager for a Search Optimization firm by day. I've worked in SEO for the last 4 years, and PPC, web dev, online marketing, and writing before that. I travel a lot to meet with clients and attend conferences.
I am from Plymouth and currently my team Plymouth Argyle is set to win the FA cup this year (why do I get the feeling this post is going to embarrass me in 3 months time)
My girlfriend said I spend too much time on this forum and that if I stay on it any longer she will leave me. Sounds like a fair deal - so here I am again.
My pet site is http://www.silverstall.com/ which was an example on how not to build a seo friendly site. Since engaging this forum it probably still is but at least I know where I have gone wrong.
...and have been doing this since 1992. I am disabled and permanently handicapped. I needed to change my life. The web was the opportunity of a lifetime! My parent site (one of... oops ran out of fingers!) is www.domainnamesfor.us . I ventured into the web with the motto, "The man who never had a chance... never took one!"
The web stole me from corporate fortune 500 consumer electronics management as PCs migrated into that arena. Early dabbling with BBS systems pulled me into the industry as it was developing.
Amazing to see where things are today vs the walls of 1,200 baud modems that I couldn't keep cool enough!
I've enjoyed the business, the direction and enjoy using what resources I have at my fingertips to help charities and get myself and business into helping build world peace through the gift of giving. Hey, it beats reading pages of spam!
Taking my hat off to Google who seems to index charitable sites so quickly, almost as if they are their own. Also, the "leadership role" in communicating with the millions of "little people" that create the components that make the "big picture."
hello my name is Chris by day I'm a plumbing engineer and by night I'm a wanna be web master ha ha .......I'm in the middle of building my web-site this is the first site I've ever done erm (not very good ) but it works oh yes site address www.heat-pack.co.uk i usually stay clear of forums mainly because i don't know what to say on them but never-mind, anyway my site yes that thing I'm only about half way through completing it I've had the idea of adding a link exchange page ...... is that a good idea?? i managed to get indexed in google somewhere in the middle of the other 99999444434345336 sites we do get visitors looking about but not many
Hi My name is John, and I am from NC. I am a webmaster for http:\ \www.patientsville.com. My background is data mining and IT health systems, and am a SEO newbie. I found the forum very helpful and hope you guys keep posting and providing so very needed insights. Cheers John
I have just about made a living from the manufacture of metal detectors since 1972. I have two sites that are very similar www.saxons.uk.com and http://home.clara.net/saxons on one part of both sites there is a DIY metal detector project that is free and has been built by somebody in just about every country in the world. I get a big kick out of this. Since just before Christmas the sites have slipped for some strange reason, and thats why I am hanging around here. Just recently sold metal detectors to people in Florida,Pakistan, and this week Mexico. Isn' t the internet wonderful. On a rainy day have a look at www.saxons.uk.com/chr.htm On Feb 22, 2:23 am, Patientsville.com wrote:

I'm Jorge (George in English) from Lima, Peru... I use computers since 1986, I design websites since 1999 and now I'm trying to meet the SEO/SEM biz. Of course I have a website, lots of positive thoughts and willingness to meet worthwhile people here with whom learn and share.
I'm norman 23 years old male from Philippines.. oops! I hope I did not misplace myself here. I am working in a software developer firm since 2005, early huh! I'm working basically webbased systems but now set aside those programming stuffs and time to turn to cool stuff like building my own "personal community" ( but I wonder if there such a term, personal community? ) homepage so folks if you want to have a taste in filipino community I advice you to visit my site http://tambayan.isgreat.org and join the fun! ( amm, just exaggerating actually I'm alone and ugly to my website..hehe )..
I am certified in fitness and nutrition, but didn't know what to do with all I learned. In 1999, I bought my first home PC and decided I was going to figure out how to make a web site, or die trying! Since what I knew best was fitness and nutrition, I put all I'd learned on the web -- it's been quite a long haul. Had some pretty sad versions of the site along the way, but I keep learning.
I've just finished a course in Web Dev now, and got an actual diploma! Hey -- I'm 47; this was no small feat for this old gal! : ) So I also just put up a web design site I started working on during my two years of schooling and as a typical web developer, I'm already thinking I should redo it to all CSS! Sometimes I think I'm crazy! Anyway, that site is http://www.bratcitywebdesign.com but I haven't done any official advertisting as yet. I learned clients can drive you batty so want to remain low-key and just do free-lance work for people I enjoy working with, while continuing to run my two "babies".
I love Web Dev and all that goes with it, but find when I'm surfing the forums here, there's always so much more to learn. I love reading posts and when I think I have something worthy to contribute, I love to participate but more often than not I have a zillion questions. I don't wish to be a pest, but fear I will be before too long! I'll try to keep it to a low roar.
Looking forward to more interaction! Best of success to everyone with their sites -- I'm enjoyed checking them all out!

My time is divided between sleep, school, and computers, with the latter mostly being split between gaming and projects/discussion (Google, phpBB, MediaWiki, etc.).
I'm usually a bit more verbose, but I guess I don't feel like saying much more about myself. :p
(Adam, the link in your first post is truncated: You might need to crop off the protocol [http://] or the domain/directory if the group software cuts off long URLs.)
My name is Jeroen and I'm from Holland. I've got a site, but not mucht visitors yet :-( The address is: http://www.berrens.nl If anybody needs help with flash, not that I'm an expert, but always willing to help.

Hi, my name is Steven from San Diego, CA. Hello All!
We have a site called Click For Lessons (www.ClickForLessons.com) that matches good students with great teachers for music, singing, dance, acting, art, and language. We launched our beta site in November of 2005 and have quickly grew to over 5,000 teachers from every major city in the USA, serving over 65,000 students each month. Our mission is to help teachers spend less time looking for students, and more time teaching them. Our office is a live/work loft in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. We have a mascot - our dog, nutty (http:// www.clickforlessons.com/provider/nutty/Profile.aspx) - and we keep Sam Adams Winter Lager in the fridge in case of emergencies.
I have some specific questions regarding how to improve our indexed pages, etc. and that's the reason I've joined. Hope to get to know you guys.

My site has 9 main sections. The top two are Electronic Component/ Equipment manufacturers, and Computer Bus design. Mainly aimed at Electrical Engineers, but I get a lot of computer geaks.
I read a few of the Google pages, just to keep updated, or figure out why I'm having Adsense, ranking or other problems.
I've been an Electrical Engineer for 23 years. I work with VHDL for FPGA's or board design, but really for the last 5 years I've been working as a lead card designer.
