Could it be that a cookie cleaning and/or a file cache clearing might help?
Or, when you are seeing a problem, have you tried a different browser?
Not that it is necessarily a browser issue but on "membership" sites I have the most common suggestion for all problems regarding account tracking is, clear cookies, clear cache, try a different browser and compare results.
If it still screws up after all that, it might suggest Google Groups is a bit borked, perish the thought! :-()
I've done both ..... also logged out, closed the browser and then logged in, force a reload.....same thing. When the x new of x new is showing posts read as new, it might only happen within Crawling indexing and ranking or Google webmaster tools etc. It's rare when it happens to all 4 at the same time, usually 1 or 2. I think if it were a cookie/cache problem, it would happen to all 4.
Today I noticed when I click on "his" profile, all posts from today are marked as "moments ago" which isn't correct but when I click on anyone else's, the time since last post is correct. I don't think thats an error and only hope it means ....well, I won't go there just yet but do have the champaign on ice.
