I am extremely grateful for the time I've been able to spend
monitoring this group--responding to questions, watching threads,
reading all the new "Introduce yourself" posts, and being consistently
amazed at the speed with which some of our users can type. This has
become my home online and holds a very special place in my heart,
though with great regret I must announce that my time monitoring this
group in an official capacity has come to an end.
I have made a very tough decision to leave my position at Google to
follow my calling to join the legal profession, and today is my last
day on the job. It's been a wonderful time, and I would like to thank
all of you, especially beussery for his great attitude and Flash
expertise, webado for her untiring dedication and mod_rewrite
expertise, and Autocrat for his sense of humor and for his rocket-
speed ascent from being an occasional poster to the second most
frequent in a matter of a few weeks.
It's been a lot of fun spending time with you here. Also, this isn't
exactly goodbye either, since I will definitely be stopping by without
my big blug [G] and contributing in my personal capacity when I'm not
reading about contracts or rules of evidence. :-)
So, thanks for helping each other--keep on posting!
-Bergy
Well, I'm sad to see you go but glad you are following your calling.
Thank you for all of your fine work here and good luck to Google
finding someone to fill the void left by your leaving.

Good luck Bergy in your new career - I'm sure it's been a tough call.
I'm a minimal poster, though a busy reader of the posts and you've
been great ;-)
Enjoy your new direction, I've no doubt you'll be a great asset to who
ever you work with.

Thanks for your kind words Mark, it's been a pleasure and I've truly
enjoyed our interactions. Safe to say, you've taught all of us a
lot! I know you'll be busy but, do hope you'll make time to stop by
on occasion and keep in touch. Though I hate to see you go, I wish
you all the best in pursuing your passion!

Best of luck, Bergy. A truly diversified career you've built for
yourself so far and I'm sure you'll be doing a great job where you're
going as well.
Stop by if only to chit chat :)

(Yes, I'm quoted in that story and several others about it.)
During the pre-trial, Mr Justice Eady had the "discovery stacks" from
both complainant and defendant on his desk. At one point, someone on
the Demon side asserted they had no way of knowing how many people
read each newsgroup on their news servers.
Eady interjected. "Are you sure, Mr X?"
And he went into the discovery stack, fiddled for no more than ten
seconds, and came out with a document.
"In your own capacity planning report dated only this last January,
you give access rates and figures broken down by newsgroup, do you
not?"
And he held it up.
Hizzonor had not only read the 7" or so discovery stack - he'd
understood the capacity planning report and remembered pretty well
where it was in the stack.
Pay attention to everything.
Believe absolutely nothing.
Unless you are 100% certain, say nothing.
If you are 100%, then chances are you're lying, so say nothing.
:D
