Subject: 2 site owners, 2 sitemaps?
Hi all,

I and a colleague are both verified owners of our site so we can each
access webmaster tools for our site. When my colleague added a sitemap
for our site in his version of Webmaster tools, my Webmaster tools
showed no sitemap for our site.  Eventually, I just added the same one
in my Webmaster tools.  However, I do not think Google would want two
sitemaps for the same site, even if they are the same sitemap.

Why wouldn't webmaster tools have one sitemap across all site owners?
We have noticed the last downloaded dates of the sitemaps are
typically out of sync, so Google is working with them separately. Is a
problem that my colleague and I each have a sitemap listed in our
Webmaster tools accounts for our site, even though it is the same
sitemap?  Should I delete the sitemap in my webmaster tools account
for our site with my colleague keeping his so we just have one?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi psiguy,

Welcome to the Webmaster Help Group!

Having separate Sitemaps with similar URLs for each site owner is not
a problem. The Sitemaps system will properly handle any duplicate URLs
found within the same Sitemap or across multiple Sitemaps.

Thanks,

Jonathan
