Hi Kaz
Atom 1.0 should be supported. If it doesn't work for your site, it
would be great if you could post the URL of your feed. Thanks!

John

It reports "Incorrect namespace" with this URL:

http://kazssym.logs.vx68k.org/atom.xml

It uses namespace "http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom" which, I understand,
is Atom 1.0.

Hi Kaz!

Looking at your URL it appears that it is not a valid Atom 1.0 feed.
You can check this by using the validator at
http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fkazssym.logs....
.

I noticed that you also have an RSS feed which works in the validator.
Have you considered just using that one?

If you are creating the feed yourself, I would recommend using the
native XML sitemap format as described in http://sitemaps.org/protocol.php.
By using the native format you can include all of your URLs and give
additional information to each one (date of last modification, change
frequency and relative priority). The XML sitemap format is accepted
by all search engines which support sitemaps.

Hope it helps!

John

Now, it seems Valid Atom 1.0 feed.  Can you process it without
warning?

Please note that section 4.1.3.1 of RFC 4287 says the type can be a
MIME media type.

Hi Kaz
When you make changes in feeds that you use as sitemap files, you can
help to make sure that they're processed quicker by resubmitting them
in your webmaster tools account. It may take a bit to get processed,
however, so you should take a look after a few days to check the
status. According to the validator, it looks like it's ok now, great
job!

Google Webmaster Tools still reports a warning (at line 45 with tag:
link & attribute: rel) after resubmit:

Incorrect namespace
Your Sitemap or Sitemap index file doesn't properly declare the
namespace.

IMHO, this warning is not appropriate for this case.
