I'm happy to announce that you can now verify and submit a Sitemap for
your Google Sites with Webmaster Tools. To verify your Site, go "Site
Settings" -> "Other Stuff" and paste in your verification meta tag in
the field labeled "Google Webmaster Tools verification."
Once you have verified your site, Google Sites auto-generates a
Sitemap XML file that you can add to your Webmaster Tools account.
Thank you, perhaps someone can help - I have a googlepages site and I
can't find "Site settings -> Other stuff." (site settings i can find,
but not the sub-menu).
How can I verify?

How did I get in here? I was on a page discussing Website Maps!!
Never mind! I found it curious, that mention of Settings and Other
Stuff. Any way I was not the first one! Ha! Ha!...
This doesn't work for a lot of the template based programs like
Quickblogcast and many others as they will not allow html to be
installed in the code or a .html page. There needs to ba another
option like code you can install in your side bar or something similar
- Quantcast and several other analytics websites do this.
