i have on my webmaster tools account the site http://find-on.it and
also some other sites like <something>.find-on.it
All sites are correctly verified.
I submitted on the main site (http://find-on.it) a sitemap with the
urls of all these websites, but i receive an error on some sites.
Example: why this sitemap url is accepted:
What are the error messages that you get in
Google Webmster Tools?
What are the URLs of the sitemaps,
are they sitemaps type sitemaps.org ?
About yoursite.it and www.yoursite.it the with-www and without-www URL point to
the same content, you do not
need to submit them both.
If you make a search site:yourdomain.it
you can see that the URL
www.yourdomain.it is indexed by Google,
so submit only the domain
with www.

Also for any sitemap, urls have to be correct and final destination,
not get redirected elsewhere.
When you have a url like http://www.find-on.it this is incorrect
becaues the serevr automaticlaly 301 redirects it to http://www.find-on.it/ So don't forget the trailing slash where applicable.

Cristina: i receive the message "URL not allowed - This url is not
allowed for a Sitemap at this location", a classic cross-site error,
but now cross-sites sitemaps are allowed, so?

the main URL is http://find-on.it, and the sitemap http://find-on.it/sitemap.txt The other sites are, for example, http://advertising.find-on.it and
http://affiliate.find-on.it .
The urls of the first one contained in the sitemap are accepted, the
ones from the second aren't...
(I think the fact that these are subdomains of the main site doesn't
matter, as they are considered different sites in my WMT account, i.e.
I have one row for each of these in the main Dashboard)

Hi Marco,
The URLs in your sitemap that are from
your main site are from the
with-www version, www.find-on.it Can you submit your sitemap from
www.find-on.it and not from find-on.it ?
Maybe you did not verify your domain
for the with-www version?
Also check the URLs in the sitemap,
as Webado already wrote
it is better to have a URL like
www.find-on-it/ and not www.find-on-it

I tried also to submit a sitemap file with only urls of the type
http://accounting.find-on.it/ and it is accepted, while another with
urls like http://affiliate.find-on.it/ is rejected...
Honestly I can't think other than a WMT bug...
Someone has other ideas?

As you've noticed, our cross-submissions system may experience some
problems if you have a large number of sites in your account. For now,
I'd recommend submitting your Sitemaps via your robots.txt file, or
submitting separate Sitemaps for each subdomain.

@Marco: I generally can't make promises about future plans or updates.
For now, I'd recommend using one of the workarounds I mentioned above.
As an added benefit, if you submit your Sitemap(s) via your robots.txt
file, they'll also be accessible to the other search engines who
support cross-site submission.
@webado: In most cases, cross-site submission allows you to pretty
much put anything anywhere; you can host Sitemaps on any domain, at
any level, and include any URLs (including URLs from multiple domains
in the same Sitemap) as long as all sites involved are verified in
your account.
The benefit to having a separate Sitemap for each domain is that, if
something about cross-site submission doesn't work, you can relocate
that Sitemap or submit it for the domain whose URLs it contains. Some
people may also find separate Sitemaps easier to organize and
maintain. The benefit to throwing all your URLs in the same Sitemap is
that you only have to deal with 1 Sitemap; but you're dependent on
cross-site submission, which apparently has some limitations.
