Today in webmaster tools I noticed under Statistics tab > page analysis tab there is a new section
>Click on a word or phrase in the external links to your site table to see sample variations.
Ive explored it a couple of times and didnt quite understand the data and what was being presented. Some of it looked as though this section was still being implemented. Some of the URL's did not seem to reflect the true URL's & at times after clicking on the link I was really curious how the bot came up with the info presented.
Anyone have feedback on what information will provide?
For the new feature about keywords/phrases/content I am getting a list of (ky)words on the site and off the site presumably in links the site. None of the keywords have any links attached. I thought maybe I have to check it using the Links tab.
But I get this in the External Links tab and the same for Internal Links.
Pages with external links [?] Our system is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes.
So something new is brewing but for the time being it's sort of dead.

I just looked in the Google Webmaster Central Blog http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/ at More insight into anchor text and the new features for page analysis are described as - number of phrases showed expanded to 200. - variations of each phrase displayed (for example, with different capitalization and punctuation). - more sites now have access to the anchor phrase report. So, if this report was not there before, it might be now. - the report showing the most common individual words in anchor text is back. - the number of common words in anchor text and common words shown expanded to 100 each.
And the robots.txt analysis page accepts as correct the Sitemap: line.
And it is easier to move from one site to another with a Sites selection field at top right of page for the sites in the Google Webmaster Tools, I just saw this now, it could have been there before.

The External Links To Your Site data in my profile is showing 158 terms with their respective variations. Don't know what the max amount is, (don't know I will ever achieve it) but it looks good so far. What would be way cool is to be able to click on the sample variation and be taken to the page using that anchor text to link to your page. I see a sample variation that reads "Astra Web Design Company" which I suppose the tool is telling me links to our site. Astra is another company like ours, but I can not figure out why someone would use them as a description to link to our site. Being able to find that on the web and try to address it with the webmaster would make this tool that much better.
