Subject: mulitlpe sitemaps, each have groups of pages with same priority, causes warnings
Hi all

I've created all my sitemaps, and have grouped pages together in
batches of similar content (product pages etc), however Google doesnt
seem to be able to view across sitemaps for a single site when
assesing priorites and I'm getting warnings that all pages are the
same priority.

Is there any way around this? i.e. would doing a sitemap index file
help google realise they have different priorities?

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim and welcome to the groups!

Technically, the priority value is relative to the website -- however,
our analysis tools compare it on a Sitemap level. This can lead to
situations like yours. Generally speaking, I wouldn't worry about
these warnings in that case.

Hope it helps!
John

Thanks John, much appreciated. I'm sure the Google machine will work
it out soon.

Cheers
Jim
