Subject: What's your take on this?
In my "Query Stats" in the Webmasters Tools, I have a keyword in the
Top search query clicks with an average top position of 22.  But
everytime I search on that keyword my site is not in the top 100.
Have you experienced this before?

Google presents different results depending upon your location,
irregardless of whether you click the 'show local results' option or
not.

It could well be that your site is well ranked in other parts of the
world but not in yours.

I tend to use online proxies to check how my site appears in Google
searches in other countries.

If I were faced with a situation such as yours, I'd be searching my
server logs for google referrals that contain that particular keyword,
writing down the IP's and using a service like arul's IP search or
maxmind's geo IP to see where those searches are coming from.

Another possibility is that you are seeing data centre differences -
Google also serves data off numerous different data centres - these
aren't always in sync.

Ho doc,

Thanks for answering.  About 90% of my traffic comes from the USA
(according to Google analytics.)  I checked other countries like CA
and UK that make up most of the other 10 percent and my keyword does
not show up at their Google servers.  I used mcdar.net to check many
Google servers and my site is not on the top 100 on any of the
servers.

It's an important keyword for me and someone clicked on it according
to Query Stats.  If I knew the date/time then I could go to my
logfiles and search on that IP.

Signed confused.

For that kind of detail I'd usually import my log files into excel and
do a find on the referrer url -

it's usually recorded like -

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=how+to+block+search+engines+from...

confused? confuddled? Welcome to the world of webmaster tools. It's
often so out of date that it's virtually useless for any meaningful
purpose.
