Subject: Link removal / Start again / Help!?
Hi All,

I've posted a couple of times previously about my site www.eahelisking.com
and I've implemented all the recommendations that have been suggested
by the board.

A brief synopsis:
Site name http://www.eaheliskiing.com. Search term "heliskiing".
Old site http://www.eladv.com used to be very high rank (top 5),
although it had very old content and hadn't been updated for years!
Newer site (I say new - it is about 5 yrs old!)wasn't ranking well =
penalised due to eladv.com! I redirect 301 old to new. Index page of
new page went high rank initially then fell away. Newer site still
seems to be penalised.

I submitted the newer site for reconsideration again a couple of weeks
ago but it seems that my site is still penalised (when I take a
segment of text from the pages they do not show up high in the
rankings although the page says is "indexed").

I would welcome any further suggestions as to why the newer site might
still be penalised... my guess is that the site is suffering due to
directory listings / paid links on general directories that had been
implemented a few years ago. In amongst the free directory listings we
have had some great links from national newspapers and other
businesses in our sector (I'd say 30% high quality links v 70%
directory / paid listings) - out of approx 600 links in.

I've tried contacting a lot of the free directories to get our links
removed but they are mostly uncontactable.

Do I start again with a new domain name? Or should I continue to try
to get my site link removed from "paid directories / free listings? Or
can anyone see something I'm not seeing!!

Thanks (again) in advance.

Bill

Give it time, the site is not showing any duplicate content issues and
is linked from cnn, encarta and all kinds of other sites...

Thanks Aaron... If it was a case of waiting for the site to rise
naturally that would be fine, but I still think the site is
penalised... would you agree?

In which case, in your experience, does it make any difference giving
it more time?
