My blog (Aeromental.com) got banned this Friday. I didn't receive any e-mail notification from Google, I just knew it since my visits dropped dramatically, and after doing a "site:" search, it was clear that my beloved search engine got me out of it.
Maybe Google team has no time to e-mail to site owners about getting banned, but I would have liked to receive first a warning e-mail advising me to change the wrong stuff with my site with a time period to do it (24hrs or so) to avoid getting banned, or at least I would have liked to know the reason of this drastically situation. I have my blog registered in the Google's webmasters site, with my sitemap approved too. I didn't have a webmaster@... email but I have it now. I know it can be hard to find out to which email send an important notification like this (a random webmaster email or looking into the domain's whois data) but I thought being with a Google webmaster's account related to my Gmail will help you a lot with this issue, which was not the case.
I have read Google's quality guidelines several times to find out what happened, what I did wrong, and after a few hours I found a significant reason: my site was linking to a very bad neighbor 3 days before, a Gambling web site who was already banned from Google.
I am going to be very honest about how this happened. I had a Text- Link-Ads account (now it is gone forever), they paid me to add links to my site. Since I previously read Google's thoughts about this kind of sites, I listed its ads under a Publicity title and I also edited its WordPress plugin to show every link with a rel="nofollow" tag. So I was following Google recommendations on how to treat this.
The problem was that with the same account, they also offer feedvertising, which code I thought was the same that I already edited, but it wasn't. So on Tuesday June 19th I posted 2 news, a Gambling site bought a feed link of my blog and a site link. My feed readers complained to me about my new and horrible feed Ad, and then I canceled to show feedvertising in my TLA account.
The result was that on Wednesday my new posts were clean, but the Tuesday's posts were still with the feed ad. On Friday 22nd Google banned all my site. Friday night I erased my TLA links and plugin, I sent a reinclusion request explaining this and asking to inform me if there is another issue, since I was just guessing my problem. I forgot to say that I will never do that again, but I assure you Googlers that I won´t do anything like this again, I will have only my actual Ad- sense account for my entire blog. This won't come back.
I put a lot of work to my blog since I created it, and since then it has grow a lot.
I write in Spanish since I live in Bolivia. I have a good amount of readers from Spain and Latin America. People sometimes comment to me that my blog inspires them to also blog. I can also say that according to a list made with Technoratti data, my blog rates in the first position of bolivian's blogs: http://www.boliviaweb.com/blogs/ranking.aspx
I always try to write original and important content, avoiding the copy pasting (unless it is a song's lyrics). I like to post some cool videos and news, so my readers can be informed and also can have some entertainment. But my main subject are movies. I am a film lover, so my blog has a lot of spoilers, directors interviews translated to Spanish, images and trailers of upcoming films.
My blog was improving this month, since I was first in Spanish searches about Fantastic Four ("4 fantasticos") and the Transformers movie ("transformers la pelicula"). Maybe third with the new Harry Potter film and so on. My blog is offering valuable content in those pages.
I feel very depressed. I always wanted to play safe with Google. These are the exciting days when those films are going to be on theaters, my Blog's first year anniversary is also close. I know I am not a big company to have my blog re-indexed to Google in 48 hours, but please help me, I would love to be reincluded very soon since I hope I cleaned my mistake for ever. I love to blog and be in Google results. I feel blue about my actual situation. My last post is very sad, it is about how ironic is to be banned by Big Daddy in this important dates.
I hope I will hear of some not-evil news from Google. I pray for that to happen.

Gravatar (Global avatar) is a web service that provides avatars to all blogs' comments with templates and plugins ready to work with it.
It first looks if the email of the person who commented has an avatar related in Gravatar, if it exists it will be shown, and if it doesn´t, it will be redirected to a default image/avatar: http://www.aeromental.com/images/gravatar.png
The XHTML validator seems to say that a p tag followed by a div is not permitted. I use SWFObject to attach flash videos to my posts (YouTube) with divs, and WordPress automatically ads the p tag around everything.

Can't you edit the source code of the post rather than use WYSIWYG?
Xenu is a Windows program (a robots) that can be used to crawl a site and find all the urls it has and any broken links (internal or external). Excellent diagnostic tool. http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html

My website has vanished from Google as well in the last two weeks - I just used Xenu and lots of broken links came up on my post feed, and my site itself, http://www.autosavant.net comes back as broken. So, I am not technically astute - how do I get those links fixed?

I am not using the WYSIWYG editor of WordPress, I use its code editor, but WP stills manages to add "p" tags to every paragraph and divs, which cannot be edited.
