It seems we have recently been 'slaughtered' by the duplicate content
issue. But after reading this:
Duplicate content on a site is not grounds for action on that site
unless it appears that the intent of the duplicate content is to be
deceptive and manipulate search engine results.
It seems we should not have been ( We been absolutely smashed
recently ).
We do have multiple pages with similar content, but it is not to
deceive, it is to better serve. We sell cellular accessories.
Multiple models use one accessory often, therefore, we have individual
model pages per model but the content on these individual model pages
is similar as we are selling the same product for different models.
If we combined all pages into one, then it is self defeating and
confusing because customers see too many models and get confused as
they only want and need to see 'their' model. Example:
TOC page:
http://www.batteries4less.com/motorola/motorola_toc.html
Default MOTORAZR V3r page:
http://www.batteries4less.com/motorola/motorazr-v3r
( This page shows all models which use the shown products. If a
customer uses our site search feature they land on these default
pages. But if customers click from the TOC page on their specific
model, they go to that specific model page:
http://www.batteries4less.com/motorola/motorazr-v3r/razr-v3r
... wherein they only see what they need to.. their model. But most
of the content and products shown is the same for the TOC page shown
and this models page as well as any other model pages which show the
same products. )
Are we being punished for these similar pages as it seems.. or is it
something else we are missing? Any help would be beyond appreciated.
Thank you.
