Subject: My site as suddenly dropped
Up until today www.childfriendly.co.uk was ranked in positon 1, SERP 1
for Family Holidays. It's suddenly dropped to page 10 without
explanation, furthermore we even been de-indexed on certain keyword
terms - this is the case for a number of other sites that were ranking
alongside us on the term Family Holidays. Now, it looks like there is
an entirely new list of websites ranking on page 1 for this term? Can
ayone help to explain what has happened to have caused this dramatic
change?

The server is mis-configured.

http://web-sniffer.net/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.childfriendly.co.uk%2Fro...
produces a custom error page but a server response code of 200 that
should be 404.

http://web-sniffer.net/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.childfriendly.co.uk%2Fsi...
produces a simple server error 500.

just taking a look at your links they appear to be coming from blogs
that do pay per post and link directories, do you have any that are
not self promotional, you know links from someone who said, "cool
site, I will link to it"?

And the Lalbagh is still where it was when I discused it two days ago.

It's _link_ _building_ that's been hit.  Very, very hard by the look
of it.

I see dramatic changes with 6 new sites appearing on page 1 of
keywords I follow. Its a good thing as all the previous 6 who had
dominated page 1 for years, had manipulated their positions with link
exchanges, domain farms, 'resource' pages, hidden links etc etc
Well done Google and I hope it’s a permanent thing.

And the conclusion you drew is... that it's a Google issue?
How so?

Seems to me for just about every such "new" phenomenon there is a
perfectly simple common sense explanation that does not point at any
Google glitch, but at the site/server/content/links.
