I keep pointing people to http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/seo-advice-url-canonicalization/
- it would be nice if that piece also contained a reference to the
Preferred Domain function of Webmaster Tools.

There are some good ideas on his blog.  Few (if indeed any) make it to
the headline article.

Giggle. I just read the source of your home page - what have you got
against Middlesborough?

Don't you like Parmo?

Just noticed a bit on Dokarl's profile what explains eveything...."My
areas of expertise? Diverse - officially, I have a B. App. Sci. in
Agriculture, and a M.Sc. in Computer and Comms Engineering
(specializing in linux) . In english, that means I know about cows and
computers :)"
Now I understand that....

I should explain to those not in the know that Parmo is short for
"Parmesan"

The dish has little to do with the Italian cheese or the town from
which it takes its name.  A Parmesan is made from a very thin sheet of
meat - usually chicken or pork - around the size of a dinner plate.
It is part-cooked, covered on one side with melted (cheap, mostly NOT
Parmesan) cheese, coated in batter and deep fried.

Fortunately there are few roads out of Middlesborough and it hasn't
spread very far.

Quite seriously, check out
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result...

If you have a friend with a commercial address not too far away (you
need access to the incoming mail) get yourself registered with Google
Maps like the first hit on this search.  Since it's essentially a
geolocated business (not something intangible like a software
download) the map will help bring in local searches.  Beware of the
nutters, of course.  If you have a friend with an industrial unit
within ten miles, that would be ideal.

I'm sorry - I must be missing something?
