Subject: "We are updating the website" temporary page
Once in a month I need to make a major update to my web app. To
accomplish this update I need to "turn off" the website for approx 15
minutes and I temporarly put a "we are updating the website, come back
later" message (a lot of javascript is involved and I can't update on-
the-fly).

I'm wondering what happens if google's bot come crawling during the
updating session. What are the best practices to handle this
situation?

Thanks

Hi Matt

The best way to handle this kind of situation is to return the HTTP
result code 503. This lets us know that your server is currently not
available. When we see that code, we will try again later until we can
reach your server again.

Hope it helps!
John
