I was browsing the group signed in under my normal, regular gmail email address, as usual, as webado @ gmail.com . This is the only identity I use in any case.
I was in a thread, decided to post, that failed, as it's been happpening a lot lately.
But the strangest thing was that I suddenly saw, where my identity shoudl have been showing as webado @ gmail.com , a totally unkownemail addy: alexekatia @ oi.com.br
How the heck did my session get mixed up with somebody else's?
I don't know who that is, never seen this email address in my life.
No idea if it belongs to somebody whose threads I have been reading recently.
But this all makes me question many things concerning both Google Groups and Gmail now.
How and why should this even be possible?
I'd say it's quite worrisome, especially if it were to happen in Gmail. One moment you are in your own gmail account, the next you are in somebody else's? What if messages were to get scrambled and end up dispersed across different gmail accounts?
So I relaly hope somebody investigates this kind of incident. I'm sure I'm not the only one it has ever happened to.
If it happens again, take a screen shot / print screen. That will give you something to show google. This is a serious security hole in Google if it does continue to happen.

Thanks, Susan.
It may be unrelated, but early evening I had a post rejected: "An error occurred ... please try later".
I tried a few times, then backed out and was immediately asked to sign in again. I did, and all was well.

As Susan noted, we (and other Googlers) escalated this very quickly, and thanks for the heads-up.
I believe that this issue should be completely resolved now; if you still see this happening, please add a note to the thread and we'll keep an eye out over the weekend.
That's not the cache I'm talking about, Igor. I'm talking about the phenomenon peculiar only to the group format where you post and nothing appears for quite some time varying between a minute to sometimes as much as 10 minutes, no matter how the browsr is set and how many refreshes you do. In this time wires can get crossed I imagine. At the very least I myself lose track of where I was ;)
Adam, you can be sure that at the frist sign of anyhting weird I'll be sounding the alarm.
But I'm sure you got it nipped and I'm so glad and relieved.

I will not pretend that I could in any way hijack your network traffic...
But I am under the impression that the internet is absolutely insecure in every possible way you look at it...
SSL is the closest anyone has ever come to achieving a false sense of security... and even that is an open source solution waiting for someone to master and abuse... if your can create something with numbers you can deconstruct something with numbers so long if you have all of the numbers...
Spyware? Packet sniffing? really I am not a cracker... but someone surely is... in fact... anyone with access to any sort of priviledged google traffic is bound to abuse it at some point or another....
( this is my propaganda post... no ratings please... my philosophies are neither good or bad... they just exist )

Oh, I get it all the time - several times a day.
But usually it just goes away when you retry a couple of times. On this occasion it wouldn't and I discovered the apparent reason was that Google had forgotten who I was. That's the first time I've ever seen that. Losing your own identity is not the same as acquiring someone else's, but the cause might be related.
True, this also seemed to happen a few times yesterday. And probably a variation of the same problem. And while it looked at first like I'd maybe lost my login cookie, it wasn't. Clicking the Login showed me my id and I only needed to provide my password.
It hasn't happened again after my earlier problem was reported as fixed, so here's me believing, not just hoping, this is all under control. :)
